So it's a lot more clear in the Japanese how goku beat broly. In the original script, its stated how brolys sheer power is becoming too much for his body to handle (he said this in the scene when he's like "getting stronger") so when goku punches that specific spot with everything he has, it detonated him like a bomb (hence the green explosion)

I can see why! He's so unique from the rest of the DBZ villains because he's a power house who just overwhelms you with his power. Not to mention, this is one of the few times if only time you get most of the Z fighters fighting together.

Vegeta grew up hearing stories of the Legendary Super Saiyans power. The rest of them just see Broly as another foe. Thats one of the best parts of the movie for me. Broly is so powerful he even has Vegeta shaken.

Broly's power was so great that the punch basically acted as a tipping point to make him explode. That's why when Broly blew up it was from his own green energy. Like imagine punching anyone in the gut and they puke. It's like that but Broly's energy just went boom

Broly The Legendary Super Saiyan has a good amount of subtext/metaphor. To summarize it basically harkens back to the theme of the Saiyan Saga with Vegeta and Nappa: Raw Talent/Good Genetics vs Hardwork and Training/Sheer Willpower. Broly is the pinnacle of perfect genetics. Born with immense power, however the cost was bouts of insanity. If you remember Vegeta kept telling Goku to give up as he is an Elite, and we see that when Broly shows his true power, Vegeta does exactly that; yield to the superior saiyan. Everyone yielded or conceded that Broly was strong metaphorically: King Vegeta, the scientist at the baby ward, his father Paragus. Even the other babies yielded to Broly. No other child dared to disturb Broly except for one - Goku, the saiyan who could care less about how strong you are (notice how no other baby is crying, it was just Goku) In the end, Goku made Broly cry when they were babies. You could view this as their first fight in a way, a fight that Goku won. At the end of the movie when Broly dies it's him realizing who Goku was, the one saiyan who refused to yield. This part is for Bryan only: The first movie was made without the idea of a sequel, and so a lot of contradictions of the main theme occur. So view Second coming as separate to the original.

The explanation is goku hit him where he was stabbed. Broly's power is so great it can "overflow" his body if he doesn't release it. So it's like hitting a weak point on a high pressure container.

I grew up with this Broly movie so it’ll always have a place in my heart. Plus this Broly movie felt like Old school DBZ compared to the DBS version. The Legendary SS was more dark, visceral, and Broly was just a badass. Plus Idk why but Rock songs and DBZ go together like PB&J 👌🏿

39:20, So the reason why Broly exploded is because he has a lot of energy saved inside of him, the con of Broly's power is that he gains all of his power really quickly, however, having too much causes him to get exhausted so he needs to waste all of his energy in order stay in control. But by the end of the movie, Broly had a huge amount of energy in his body, which Goku just needed to land one strong hit which caused Broly's body to break down and blow up because of all the energy he had stored. Kinda like a balloon, too much air inside, just one strong poke and it'll pop.

Guys, the green colored hair is the original form of a super saiyin. In that form they are completely out of control just like when they turn into an ape. So it is the ape form but harnessed in the body still. You’ll learn of more details of this in the future I just don’t want to spoil it.

I would like to point out the original creator of this movie said that broly is the strongest and pretty much no ones scales to him, considering he destroyed the entire south galaxy which is 1/4 of the entire universe in db canon its pretty fair so say that in both movies he is heavily holding back, another thing to put int account is that brolys form needs to constantly expend energy and only then is he somewhat vulnerable, after almost every physical attack broly throws he follows up with some sort of ki blast exceptbfor when goku gets fully powered up with vegetas power, he didnt expend any energy and was overloaded letting goku essentialy detonate his power

I think cell is still standing chilling in the middle of the ring he made😂 I believe this timeline happen during cell sage when cell gave the z fighter 10 days to train before cell game, it was after goku and gohan got off the time chamber , because in this broly movie gohan was in super saiyan, he hasn’t reach super saiyan 2 yet, do you agree?

The ending of this movie was definitely questionable and didn’t really make sense IMO. I mean, a monster like Broly who was clearly stronger than all of the Z Fighters combined just gets destroyed by a simple punch in the stomach from Goku who was already very weakened and only got a small power boost. They could’ve ended Broly in so many other ways, like the meteor crushing him after Goku uses Instant Transmission to save himself and the others last second. That would’ve made a lot more sense.

The guy destroyed an entire galaxy in an instant. I don't think a meteor is gonna do shit to him. And it didn't, considering he was blown up and THEN hit with a meteor and it still wasn't enough to kill him. An injured broly then proceeded to ragdoll an admittedly weaker pair of super saiyans, plus freakin gohan. Who by this point was at least as strong as super vegeta.

If yal ever watch Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans, I suggest the original 1993 version. Given the remake is kinda garbage. But thats If given both can be kinda boring Lol inculding the 1993s slow pacing, which is why someone on KZbin made a funny av edit that shortened it to 42 minutes, and removed all the content that was weighing it down but also fixing coloring etc then again its based on the game so it has game like aspects throughout it, love this fandom and I also loved the reaction.

The reason why Goku won with one punch at the end was because Goku was essentially a SSJ5 when he landed that punch.
