Hannah’s Brilliant team performed this very upgrade on my P-line Electric a couple of months ago - a fantastic quality job & absolutely transformational. The first time I went into top gear, I laughed out loud.

Well as I am not a bike mechanic, I am taking my P-line to a dealer for doing the upgrade. Anyway I love your videos and specifically the outtakes! So funny 😅

Hello Hannah, i am Uwe from germany. I say thank you for supporting me with the parts so i do change my p line 4 speed to 12 speed. By the way, you dont need to remove the right brake lever. You can install the shifter from the new brake an shifter unit to the existing brake lever. It is prepared for it. Kind Regards. 😄

Thanks for watching! That’s what we did, just add the shifter 😀

After buying all the tools required to do the job, might be cheaper to take it to the brompton shop, guessing!! least i'll know it's been done properly, always fun to watch though

I have a C line electric 4 speed and I am very jealous of the new 12 speeds. A video I'll undoubtedly come back to, although, truth be told I rather get a someone who know's what they are doing carry it out rather than than attempt it myself!

Thanks for watching. It’s actually surprisingly not to hard! Please remember you need the electric rear wheel brilliantbikes.co.uk/brompton-wheels/6283-brompton-electric-12-speed-rear-wheel.html And then the other bits in the video 😀

Hello, Nicely explained as always... Whilst watching I was wondering if there is much duplication in the gearing over the 12 gears, in the same way as one can get on a road bike (eg Big chainring, big sprocket, little chainring, little sprocket). Take care. Paul,,

Part numbers where one can order? Also, pricing ranges. I realize things change, but initial ranges are always good for helping people estimate. I’m sure you would do it at a reasonable price but the round-trip ticket from the US makes it prohibitively expensive to hire you for the work.. Another brilliant video!!
@GGg-ic9ku8 күн бұрын
Typo in my previous version living in the US voice recognition decided to translate Crikey to creepy! Nothing creepy about any of your work- apologies! Of course I blame the iPhone voice recognition from Siri, not my poor proof reading skills 🤣

Thanks for watching and the question! Assuming it’s a P line you need the following: brilliantbikes.co.uk/brompton-wheels/6333-brompton-superlight-12-speed-rear-wheel.html brilliantbikes.co.uk/brompton-hub-gear-parts-and-cables/6268-brompton-gear-indicator-chain-for-12-speed.html brilliantbikes.co.uk/brompton-hub-gear-parts-and-cables/477-brompton-qcpula.html brilliantbikes.co.uk/brompton-hub-gear-parts-and-cables/478-brompton-qgcabanc-sa.html Then the correct hub gear cable, so if you have a low / a type brilliantbikes.co.uk/brompton-hub-gear-parts-and-cables/2569-brompton-hub-gear-cable-3-speed-s-type-2017-onwards.html

Moin, 0:20 I was wondering about the clamping on the seat post. Brompton recommends clamping the frame to the mounting stand.
@HenryWilkinson-c5n8 күн бұрын
Yes, I definitely agree with you and Brompton on this. The only issue with clamping the mainframe onto a bike stand is it can impede the rotation of the pedals and cranks. The other thing I strongly recommend is protecting the frame with a heavy soft cloth before clamping it tightly. 👍
@brilliantbikesКүн бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yes we clamp all services bikes from the mainframe, we just used our big bike stand as it was a better filming location

Always enjoyable content: I'm just glad to not be living close by or I'd have every Brompton gadgie known to man! The distance between the 12 gears: there's going to be some overlap or near overlap?
@brilliantbikes7 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! The best place to look at the impact of the gearing is to look at the gear hub calculator. Link as follows: xldev.co.uk/bgc.html

I know it isn't Original or Brompton parts, but you are - also able to buy a 7 speed, chain-gear wheel with a single shifter for a Brompton. And gears going directly up and down. It gives less resistance than my present 2 times 3 internal gears 2019 Superlight. Finn. Denmark

Great video thanks. Will this conversion work on a T-line bike, I don’t see where the cable pulley will fix on my rear triangle? Am I missing something?
@brilliantbikes7 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! There is a small square bracket on the drive side of the rear triangle, the cable pulley goes there, and yes it works, we have done a few but you will need the ultralight wheel, link as follows: brilliantbikes.co.uk/brompton-wheels/6266-brompton-ultralight-12-speed-rear-wheel.html

is it possible for the old B75 to be upgraded to this new 12 speed setup?
@brilliantbikes8 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching and for the question We actually considering answering it as part of the video but it was getting a bit long The 4 speed uses a different rear triangle to the older Brompton / A Line / C Line so can’t support the 4 speed derailleur In ‘theory’ you could change the rear triangle, switch to the 4 speed derailleur and add the new wheel - but it would cost about the same as the B75 You would also have to get shorter grips to cope with the integrated shifter for the derailleur

I have a 12speed pline and a 4 speed electric pline. Would I be gaining anything by using a 12 speed t line wheel on the 12 speed pline? Would my current 12 speed pline wheel work on my 4 speed electric. My local dealer in Washington DC stated that Brompton is not offer the 12 speed wheels from the tline. Do you have a link to buy one?
@brilliantbikes8 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! The T line wheel has the aero rims, it takes a Presta valve and is very slightly lighter than the P line wheel. The electric wheels have the Cyo rim, and take a Schrader vale

Any good reason I've can't upgrade a 6 speed c line explore to 12 speed?
@brilliantbikes8 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! You would need to change the rear triangle to the advanced one, add the gear hanger, derailleur gears, suspension block and then do the upgrade as per the video. We have only done one C line upgrade and it was very expensive!
@SimonGreenway8 күн бұрын
@brilliantbikes thank you for the prompt reply, sounds slightly uneconomical! I think I'll live with 6!

Is there away of converting my six speed to a twelve speed ? Thanks for reading?
@brilliantbikes8 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! The only way to do it is to put the advance rear triangle on, add the 4 speed shifter, derailleur, suspension block the 12 speed wheel. It’s a big upgrade, we have only done 1
@KavanOBrien8 күн бұрын
@@brilliantbikes OK thanks , stupid question maybe = is it possible for the new G -Line triangle to fit on a C - line if it did would be good to have the Alfine hub on the C - line , Brompton could call it the Frankenstein line = obviously the F - Line .
