Brompton Metro Pouch - Black - new for 2020

Around the middle of 2020 - Brompton introduced a new selection of bags to the Borough and Metro ranges
The Metro pouch is the smallest of these items and is new for 2020 - it’s actually a reincarnation of the pouch which was part of the accessories pack which came with the Brompton Explore special edition bike (that one was camouflage green in colour)
In this video we attempt to to show the features of the bag
We’ll also show you how to fit it:
To the handlebars of your BromptonTo a standard saddle
To a saddle with saddle loops (such as the standard Brompton saddle or a Brooks saddle)
This is the first in a range of videos we will make - showing all of the new 2020 bags -
We did this first as we are using them, and want to show them before we get them too dirty!
Next up will be the Back Pack - which we also want to use, as a camera bag

Good video, as Brompton had a promotion “Free Metro Pouch with the purchase of any bike”. I’m still miffed that they allowed you to show the carbon fiber seat stem, and told my US dealer, “no sales for the foreseeable future."

I just ordered one to carry wallet, keys, phone, spare tubes and micro pump. Brompton original tool will be in the frame and the Brompton cover bag I can use to carry water bottle.

thank you.. how about fitting the bag on the other side of the handlebars facing you ? Then you could mount the front pannier without it catching and have easier access to the pouch 😊

Yes, I was thinking the same, Ian. I have an 'S' bag, which would probably be OK, but also a 'T' bag which probably would not, depending on how full it was. Also, I have mounted my white front facing reflector very neatly at the top of the stem and off the bars, so any handlebar bag would cover that up.... unless, as you suggest, it was behind instead. Furthermore, it occurs to me that a bag mounted behind the bars and towards the rider, could be left in place during folding; it would end up on the 'outside,' not squashed between the 'layers.'

I use the original bike cover bag as shown in the video in just that way. With the cover removed it takes a water bottle, mini tool and inner tube.

Good idea. It keeps the handlebars for my reflector and lights. And importantly it stops the pouch interfering with the brake cables, which are a bit squashed it is front mounted.

Thank you for the review. I found that a more secure way to attach the pouch to the handlebar and the seat is by looping both velcro straps through the seat holes or over the handle bar, rather than just one of the velcro straps.

I discovered this bike, and your channel really, yesterday. I don't live in the city so I don't have a full use for a folding bike, but I really like the design and utility. What I'm wondering is, can you sit on the saddle when it's folded?

Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment We don’t live in the city either - but use them for short runs to the shops and some touring They are great to travel with (you remember travel?) - especially to cities like stockholm, Berlin with great cycle infrastructure (compared to the uk at least) Back to the question - can you sit on it when folded ? Short answer: No Long answer: when folded the weight goes through the rear frame - if you sit on it you can damage it, and / or the mudguard

In regards to the metro pouch, it is better to slot the handlebar behind the black latch, instead of putting stripes over the handlebar only.

Thanks for watching The Metro pouch will fit to the loops on the Brompton Electric A water bottle won’t fit inside BUT it will fit in a waterproof metro pouch (500ml bottle at least)

Have you used the bag with a credit/debit card in it? Did the magnet corrupt the card. I would've thought so. Even earbuds/earphone magnets corrupt cards when stored together. I wouldn't risk placing any card relying on recorded data adjacent to the magnet. Let us know your results with a card with regular use of the bag.

Second thoughts: I now realise it is much too small. What's worse, the zipped pocket on the inside doesn't even go full-width. Besides, the last thing I want to put next to a magnet is my credit card.

Hi...Just wondering...is there any danger that the strong magnet in these pouch bags will wipe data from the magnet strip on your bank cards? Also, it seems that these bags will make the quick folding and unfolding of the Brompton more of a faff...if you have to keep removing and attaching these bags each time?

I'm not so sure that it is as much of an issue nowadays as most cards have an RFID chip. I've been keeping my bank card in my phone case which has a magnetic clasp closure. Looking at it the magnet sits immediately above my bank card. It's been working flawlessly for more than a year.

It doesn't seem to be a good idea to have a magnet in a pouch where you will put your credit card.

It would take a lot bigger and stronger magnet to damage your card. If you have issues with your card, first check if it´s dirty, second check your account.

This is an awful product. I'm surprised Brompton would put their name on this. This will not work well with a Brooks saddle and does not work well with an S-type handle bar. The loops on the Brooks saddle are too wide for the straps on the back and not long enough for the the handle bar. Also the velcro straps are very weak. You can get them on but the handle bar or the saddle, but you will have no confidence in the bag staying on if you hit a bump. Very disappointed in this Brompton product.

The bag is nicely made but I don't find the velcro very strong - I rode 10 mile with it on the saddle and one had come undone. The magnet doesn't reach my saddle stem.
