Very useful video, exactly what I was looking for! I think I will stick with the original rack for now, even though it is a heavy brick of a thing. I've seen someone mount the original rack with the non-specific mudguard by removing two stays which frees up room for the nuts.

Thanks for the video. It took weeks of waiting for them to come into stock (briefly) so i bought the Brompton rack as it is stronger for touring. The kick stand is an interesting addition and also the carry handle. 👌

Isn't the inner end of the B75 mudguard supposed to be fitted over the lower stay, similar to the green Brompton?

Yes. I try to get all my Brompton mudguards that side as it protects the coating from being damaged from grit.

I never had a Brompton before and now I got a second hand B75 blue lagoon like yours. However, the bike has no mudguards nor rear rack. Someone told me that once the bike was bought without it, you can no longer install an original Brompton one. I'm not sure if this is true. Do you know if I can still buy the original mudguards+rack and install it?
@NottinghamshireMadness11 ай бұрын
Look on the Brompton website at the A-Line, that is exactly the same as your B75 but in the latest colours, the Brompton C-Line mudguards and rack can be fitted as the frame is the same. On FB there is a Brompton B75 A-Line group.

Could you link me or name the Chinese rear rack and where you got it from? The genuine brompton rack is pricey and way too bulky for what I want but the Q rack doesn't have the right shape nor space for the bag I want to use! That lighter but still square and long one is exactly what I want! Thank you

A really useful video, thanks for posting it. I have the longer chinese rack as featured in your video. I purchased it with the intention of fitting to my Brompton electric to make it easier to push around in " Shopping Trolley " mode. I got so far before giving up and putting everything back as was. It seems that the new mudguard and sty arrangement on the Electric are wider than the non electric bromptons. All is not lost as I have a six speed M6L that I can ise it on. I've seen some videos where people have removed the middle mudguard stay to make room for the rack support. Did you need to do any mods or do you think it would be better to get the rack specific Brompton mudguard before tackling the job? Thanks again for the video 👍

For the electric I fitted the Brompton rack from Brilliant Bikes £116, it is very much stronger, I have yet to fit easy wheels though, I'll probably go with black skate wheels from Decathlon
@devjon1232 жыл бұрын
@@NottinghamshireMadness Hi Andrew, I purchased a Brompton rack from Brilliant bikes a couple of years ago and fitted it to my wife's 2015 M6L. While it made rolling the folded bike easier she found that the extra weight made it more unwieldy for her to flip the back under and I ended up taking it off and refitting the original mudguard. I've just ordered a new rack suitable mudguard from Brilliant Bikes with a view to fitting the long Chinese rack and see how she gets on with that. Thanks for making the videos, Really refreshingly honest presentation without any of the manufactured drama and exaggeration that I've seen on other channels. 👍

I have never understood the idea of a special stand for the Brompton, as just folding the bikes backframe, makes it stand very well! And I have, besides my two (like Yours) titanium racks, in both versions, found a more stable type, much like the original Brompton version, to be tested. But for now I'm mostly intended on making my LightweightH6LXBrompton as light as possible, for now 9,35 kilo and still falling! 😃 Finn. Denmark

@@NottinghamshireMadness I have a special set of 10 cm easywheels on an alu telescope holder, with a carbon tube in the middle, which makes it roll like a tank, compared with the original, small and to my opinion, rather useless original wheels! As a Dane my SuperlightH6LX bike was delivered with the long seat post as standard, mudguards, in a black version, and with those ridiculous small pieces of clear tape to "protect" the paint! After two folds and a full autopolish, one was nearly worn through to the paint! So I found a set of protective plates (China), and complained to the Factory (Of no use, of course!). Finn. Denmark
