Very interesting tuning. The "standard" lap steel tuning is C6, but it is C-E-G-A-C-E. That gives an A minor triad on top and a C major triad on the bottom.

Meant to add: absolute gorgeous playing. Superb. Goes to show it doesn't matter where one is or what gear one has: beautiful music just is. (Not to suggest that your location and gear aren't great -- they are -- but to focus the attention away from gear, which we can all fall victim to, and onto the music.)

Nice breakdown of a longtime favorite of mine. It’s a beautiful piece. Jimmy Page recorded two other songs in this C6 tuning from that time period. The song Friends, that ended up on Zep III and the song Poor Tom, that ended up on the odds and ends album Coda.

It was this song that propelled me into playing guitar some 45 years ago. I heard it on the movie "The Song Remains the Same" at the local alt movie house and was instantly hooked. It was years until I could play it because I knew nothing of alternate tunings and the innerwebs weren't invented yet. I finally found the tab and I was off and running! Also, I had heard that the name was pronounced "brom-roar". Who knows. Your tone is fantastic, hope it's the guitar and not the electronics.

So cool. Glad to see you doing acoustic, and even doing a Zeppelin song - chosing a well known band is unpredictable from you. Would you consider doing a Gabor Szabo lesson? I'm figuring out his song Galatea's guitar, trying to come up with my own arrangment at least. It would be really nice to see your take on that, or some other Szabo track.

I first heard this song when I was a kid and Coheed and Cambria covered it as a hidden track on one of their albums. Back then I had no track info so didnt know what to look up and their version is more jaunty and on multiple twelve strings I think so between that and not knowing what tuning it was in it took me years to actually find out anything about it.

Morning Adrian. Thank you as always for your content. Apologies if I sound a bit nerdy, but you did ask. There is a lovely John Martyn song “ back down the river” that I think uses the same tuning. Given your present chilled rural mood En France you might well enjoy opening a bottle beside a river and give it a go. As ever with early John Martyn it has a lovely melody, interesting guitar parts and a chilled vibe ( showing my age) Bonne vacance.

Cool, looking forward to this one. Never really mastered it and I find thumb picks a pain to use. The song "Friends" on LZ III also uses this tuning btw
@acpg Жыл бұрын
ah yes, good info, I forgot Friends used the same tuning. Took me quite a while to get comfortable using a thumbpick, but glad I made the effort as its does give me a bit more of a defined sound on the bass notes.

A man of culture of course. As one does when on holiday a bit of acoustic work. Nicely done. Are you mostly first take type i bet you are. I’ve got to be more diligent on technique. I was going to email you a while back because there’s a Strikes guitar solo I just can’t hit the bpm on it yet and wonder if I. Should let it go. It feels like I’m just not quite able to get there. The longer haired guitarist is less bluesy a bit mor metal almost. So hes showing me up.
