This argument is just stupid. U might as well say that every tank that exists now is a copy of the first tank ever built. This is category of armoured vehicles is called an ATTC, so that doesn't mean there should only be one model in the form of the BV206.

It's interesting that the ST Engineering VP compares his company's Bronco to the old but capable Bv206 instead of the Bv206's larger successor, the BvS 10, The larger BvS 10 (MKII, Viking, Beowulf, etc.) is already in service with Austria, France, Netherlands, Sweden, United Kingdom, Ukraine (48 BvS-10s donated by the Dutch and U.K). Future operators are Germany (367 ordered with delivery commencing in 2024), Canada (100 vehicles with delivery from 2029-2030) and the United States (136 Beowulf models to be delivered by 2029). So good luck with the scraps left on the table, the big wallet boys have already bought from BAE / Hägglunds. It is also important to note that France broke with their tradition of supporting domestic products, in this case the Bronco, built jointly by ST Engineering and the big French defense contractor Thales.

its interesting to note that the Bronco along with the AV81 and the Bionex are all designed by a Irish company all back in the 90s. The Bronco went into production in 93 not 97 as said in the interview as Timoney also supplied the components for the vehicles.

you know if all it its meant to do is supply behind the lines.. surely it doesnt need to be 4x4 it could just be a normal truck and Dog with fat tires and Diff locks, a LOT cheaper and can carry a lot more. Sure it wont go swimming but when would that sort of thing happen for a load carrier.....

Well like what the VP said, the Singapore Armed Forces had a requirement. They wanted better protection and perhaps mobility suited for the tropical climate and the ability to swim. The SAF always goes for off the shelves option when purchasing equipment so as to save cost. If Hägglunds Bv 206 could not meet the future needs of the SAF then a replacement is required simple as that. A) the SAF will look what is available internationally. However, there was none. B) It was then decided to get the local defense industry to fufil that requirement. If you cant find what you need then go do it yourselves.

Guy says - So the new hull is lighter, and flatter at the bottom making it an easy target, and the tracks when they hit mines can blow up nicely too, We have sold this noisy 4x4 truck and trailer to some unsuspecting, Singapore countries, some of which choose not to be identified, but you have just identified them when you said the word Singapore. Yes it can go in the water, as long as you dont load it up too much.. LOL [find me a week a truck driver does not over load his truck..]

The UK Army bought the Warthog (Bronco) in 2011 and ditched it only after 5 years in 2016 for a reason... The only thing that the Warthog was good for was for IED blasts and nothing more.. Go read up on the comments from the soldiers who had used these vehicles in their line of service - "In two years Warthog went from 115 wagons to 100 worth keeping.", "No faster than walking, we often didn't bother with getting into the wagon if the weather was nice, and definitely no kind of comfortable."... AND to add to that only 85 Warthogs were put up for sale by the British Army with only 17 Warthogs blown up by Taliban... Go figure...

C X The UK’s own Vikings got trashed by the Taliban so bad by the IEDS that they needed to buy the Bronco because they couldn’t make one themselves. Do you have any idea how bad IEDS were to the soldiers? Countless died because of poor protection. Your definition of “only” is very flawed

your making Zero sense...don't be stupid an think..(if IED blast destroyed vehicle, then they would need new ones, if Improved model came out during that time then UK buys new model)..if crew damage was reduce then it worked..

@@tankairui5663 Please use some common sense for God's sake! The Viking which the Bronco was supposed to be replace are still in active service with the UK army. What does tell you? For any military to procure an equipment only to decide that it is not worth keeping less than 10 year after buying it shows how bad the equipment is... It's okay to be patriotic but just look at the foreign sales of military hardware of the ST group alone will tell you how bad the equipments sold by ST are...

Singaporean here. Yes ST products are......sub par except for the Ultimax 100 LMG which is really a cadillac of LMG SAW in terms of recoil. The rest are definitely not the very best. Yes the weapons systems work but aren't optimized as Singapore's corporation and governmental philosophy is around spending the least to get the best out of the situation. With that kind of mentality, do not expect world beaters but rather cost effective interim products.
