We had BVs in the Falklands in the early eighties when I did a tour there with the British Army, which seem very similar to these and Royal Marines who I knew used them for training in the Artic.

@@nicovantol7363the army used the BV206 previously under the name SUSV. The CATV is just an unarmored variant of the BVS10 used by many European countries. Both the CATV/BVS10 and SUSV/BV206 are produced by BAE Systems

@@nicovantol7363 Beowulf isn't the same as 206 or 208, it's an updated design. Few vehicles are as mobile and agile for the type of terrain it is intended to operate in.

There is only one in Japan, but it is deployed at the Aichi Prefecture Fire Station as a "quick response vehicle" by the fire service. It is a very capable vehicle and has responded to many emergency situations. However, the vehicle is expensive, so it is difficult to increase the number of vehicles. In Japan, it is called the "Red Salamander."

I drive a BV206, the older unarmoured predecessor to the BV410. The heater in that, both front and rear, is similar to a small nuclear reactor. If troops have wet clothes, you can hang them up in the rear wagon, turn up the heating and drive around for a while. Dry as a bone clothes :-)

Military, very specialise, built to sustain the low temps so its possible, I build machine for freezer and just the cable are incredibly costly, the sensors are border line affordable and the electronics need to be heated so a military snow mobile like this have reason to be this costly. You do not want to be stranded in the cold.

Depends on how the US wants to use it. I think they said they are going for the unarmored varient, but it can be armored, and partly to be used the national guard. So lots of shenanigans in the rear with logistics is my uneducated guess, but it can also be used as a transport for arctic rangers or SOF units like it.
