Check all of your grounds and connections. If there's a known starter problem, then very likely that's that. However. Based on what I saw in this video, it seems like a bad ground. Check the connections and grounds at the battery, solenoid, fuse box and starter. Take them off and check for any corrosion, or bad connections in general. Wherever the grounds attach to the truck, whether it be frame or body, they need to be on clean metal, no paint or corrosion. If you have doubts at all, hit it with a little bit of sandpaper and reattach it. Possibly could be a corroded cable too. Might need to check where your cables have crimped lugs, terminals or if there are splices. Electrical issues suck.

Thanks for the tips! I replaced the starter and it works now :)

Snap on makes a great pair of smaller electrical pliers, that crimp on the end. I prefer soldered connections as well, but their pliers take the pain out of it!. As for your starter, it could be your starter, but it could also be your starter solenoid, or a poor connection on the battery. The truck is looking great though!

So proud of you. It has been fun watching you build your baby. Mine is still in the process of being built. 79 Bronco named Jade. I can't wait to have her on the road. I should have been doing videos as well. I can't wait to see what you do next. Oh, lights on top. If you decide to keep them just for camping, put a disconnect at the rack. Then you can wire the disconnect plug to a cigarette lighter. Then you can use them as you want for camping.

Thank you Phil! Keep me posted on how Jade comes along! Using a disconnect at the rack is a good idea, I’ll look into that :)

My 79 Bronco, I put a light bar that sits on top of the rain gutters, above the driver/passenger... had 5 lights, I had 3 pointing forward and 2 backward with a 3 way toggle switch... the up position was for front facing lights, down was for rear facing lights and middle was off. With my set up, I could remove the topper and I can't remember exactly, but I think I protected the wiring and just ran it through the doorway? I fused it and tapped into something that was hot all the time, I probably should have done a relay and to keyed on only, but never had any issues and loved it. Wish I had not sold it and the 78 that I'm looking at now the seller thinks he has it sold already, bummer, I'll keep looking for another one for me, but I'm in my mid 40's now and not sure I could do what you have done, may take me 3x as long or more and I don't have much help either. I know this is a dated post, but hope you are still cruising the Bronco, wish to see more routine maintenance repairs or whatever you want to share. Thanks.

Happy New Year’s young lady :-) It probably is the starter solenoid that is giving you problems. You are a one in a million I hope Chris knows how lucky he is and how awesome it is that you were working with that old bronco I bet your parents are so proud of you! I have a 79 bronco that I am playing with that is strawberry red and white ranger XLT and one of these days I’m going to attempt doing the seals in the top that was also a great video. Anyways a big hello from Idaho and keep up the good work I hope to see you some camping videos with a Bronco.

If you are going to learn wiring , learn to do it the right way no butt connectors , solder all leads then use shrink wrap ( I do one wrap of electrical tape then the shrink wrap ), do it right or not at all . Plus it will prevent an electrical firer , butt connectors are SHIT

Thats what I'm saying! Although since using my dads good crimpers I hate butt connectors a bit less. Merry Christmas to you as well!
