My grandfather, Major General F.F. Worthington, had a hand in the design of the RAM. You can see examples in Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Borden Military Museum, near Barrie, Ontario. My grandparents are buried in Worthington Park, which is an outdoor tank museum. So nice to see this build. Thanks!

Thanks mate. Yes, it would be good to see some of the variants of this (e.g. the Kangeroo). Some Canadian figures would be nice too - although I guess their uniforms are so similar to British uniforms that I can just use those.

Such a breath of fresh air (maybe paint) to see a completed armour model without the usual beaten-up, mud splattered and well worn look. Great build, terrific camo finish and always enjoyable commentary. Thanks again for your beaut build.

Really nice job on that Ram tank. I wasn’t aware of the Bronco kit ten years ago when I built a Belgian resin version of the Mk I Kangaroo conversion and an American resin version of the late model Mk II tank. In both cases I switched out Tamiya kits for the chassis, suspension and tracks. The M3 Lee kit for the Mk I, and the M4 Sherman kit for the MkII because of the different location of the return rollers on their respective bogey assemblies, which differs on the Ram Mk I and II variants. And yes, I confess. The Tamiya one-piece tracks saved me hours of tedious work on both units. I gave them both to my father who trained in Ram tanks before converting to a Sherman which he fought in through Italy and Northern Europe. Cheers.
@ModelNerd Жыл бұрын
Thanks William. That must have been a lot of work on the resin kits. Great that manufacturers are now looking at these less well known subjects.

@ModelNerd4 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. Yep, I'm going to add a little dried mud and some dust in the (near?) future. I've an idea for a small diorama with some Canadian (well, Tamiya British) soldiers training in Britain, so I will weather them all together. That said, I have a lot of ideas for dioramas....
@AtomicFire19723 жыл бұрын
Just a minor note about the Ram. While it's true it never saw service as a cruiser tank, some Rams were used in Europe. 84 Ram cruisers were converted to armored artillery observation posts for Forward Observation Officers (FOOs), in Sexton self-propelled artillery units. The 6 pounder main gun was replaced by a dummy gun, and the vehicle was fitted with two radio sets. It apparently served well in that role.

Wow nice looking kit! The lower hull construction reminds me of the construction on Asuka/Tasca Shermans..I'll have to get one of those Rams. Nice work and Well Done Sir!! 👍👍👍 Perhaps do a Sherman Firefly next. Asuka and from what I understand, Rye Field Models has one too. I've built the Asuka Firefly VC and they are great kits with no issues at all.

That brown came out looking awsome. Much better than a green. My only constructive criticism is the "T-handle" on the shovel sides is also a metal alloy color like the shovel head. Nonetheless. It looks great in that brown !

Great build yet again. I start watching one of ur vids and next thing I know it's tomorrow and I'm 10 videos in. So many of these RAMs were converted into personnel carriers "kangeroos" by taking off the turrets plus others used as artillery pieces. Quite a few can still be found in Holland in good condition all be it buried in the ground with just the turret exposed
@ModelNerd2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. Yes, I've seen that Italeri do a Kangeroo kit - it's a nice idea but I was put off by the lack of included figures (despite the boxart showing them). It's one of those poses it would be hard to find figures in, I think.

Better than the M4 'easy8' they did,its in grey styrene as well.Not as refined as later M4's,much more akin to the Lee.Its worth the £44 i paid.Better than Asuka or Dragon and cheaper.

Yet another excellent build, and of one of my favorite tanks too! (well almost, it's not quite a sherman lol) i'm considering getting this kit myself, but my god those tracks look like they'd take me a year and a half lol, they do look very nice put together though
@ModelNerd4 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. Yeah, the tracks...the problem is that even if you replace them, the replacements will be almost as fiddly to put together. It would have been nice if they'd included a backup pair of rubber band tracks for those who didn't want to construct the plastic ones.
