Having watched, now the 1967, 1968, and 1969 Broncos highlight films, on KZbin, and having looked them up on KZbin, I feel confident in saying the two greatest Broncos, pre-1980, who are not in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, are wide receiver Al Denson and safety Bill Thompson (although in this 1969 video, as a rookie, he's described as a"cornerback" and the fact of him leading the AFL in both punt and kickoff returning is emphasized). Al Denson is especially un-remembered, as living here in Denver, I've never heard of him in Broncos talk and lore, outside these videos, and he's not in the Broncos Ring of Fame. In the 1967 video, I think it is, or it could be the 1968 video, Denson is described as leading the AFL wide receivers in touchdowns, with 11, and he's stated to be considered by some people as the best wide receiver in the AFL (which would be saying something, with the likes of Lance Alworth, Don Maynard, and Otis Taylor). Despite their won-loss records, these Lou Saban-coached teams are my favorite Broncos teams to watch of all the pre-1980 squads, including the famous 1977 squad under Red Miller.

It may be because they wore the same number, but Tensi always reminded me of Cleveland's Frank Ryan. Same build and delivery. Ryan had a better team though, and Tensi was always hurt.

Steve Tensi threw a nice ball, too bad he didn't pan out. That front four was killer!!!!! Could you imagine Tombstone Jackson or any of them like Duranko and Costa and Inman on the 1977 team with the "Orange Crush" defense? That would've put them over the top!

I don't know if it's me, but there was no footage at all of the two games against the Oakland Raiders. The Broncos lost at home in Week 5 (24-14) and in Week 9 at Oakland (41-10).

I guess they got tired of being crushed by the Raiders

The purpose of these films back in the day was to promote the upcoming season not completely recap the previous one. That's why you see the wins and the best plays and a very optimistic tone. A major purpose for these was to sell tickets.
