Destroying the world wasn't her intention, though it'd probably make her go crazy trying to find a timeline where the Mane Six never happened and things didn't go wrong, but she'd likely not have much like.

I honestly wish we had this instead. Starlight would keep trying to find a timeline where the Mane Six aren’t close and yet where villains aren’t destroying and pillaging Equestria. She’d be trying so desperately, and it would give Twilight and Spike an actual reason to go through these alternate worlds as they chase her to reason with her. Over time, Starlight would realize things would only get worse as she reached the Barren Wasteland future. Twilight and Spike would find her there, and she’d reveal to them her past with Sunburst. It would feel more earned as a redemption, I think.

Note, when I say this, I mean that she probably has pre-existing psychological issues that made it hard to connect to people and probably caused her to take her friend going to magic college a lot harder than normal.

I know your comment is 6 years old but I still wanna play off it. Sure, starlights villain origin story seems "pathetic" at first, but the more we learn about Starlight over the next several seasons, the more it makes sense. Especially when we meet her father in season 8. He was always stuck in the past, which likely taught a young starlight to dwell on her own past and not move forward. Also because of how much he treated starlight as a child when she was an adult, I can only guess that it was the same if not worse when she was younger. He likely never taught her how to properly handle and regulate her emotions. So when she had her first heartbreak, it honestly makes sense that she never got over it like an emotionally sound neurotypical would have.

The fundamental difference is that Starlight’s story is done in a fresh and unique way from her cult personality to her time-centered revenge scheme to even her redemption. Broly was just another generic DBZ villain who destroys a bunch of stuff and screams a lot. Oh yeah, and had a bunch of BS power-ups too. He’s basically Buu, but without anything that made Buu interesting or distinguished as a character. And his character didn’t even stick around long enough to shed any backstory on what the Legendary Super Saiyan even IS. Sorry if that’s a bit rambling, but I despise Broly completely and yet love Starlight. They’re two sides of the same concept I suppose, but one side is made of tin and the other is made of silver.

The reason that the ponies that were in battle had medal wings was because during the war, the soldiers that were caught had one or both of their wings torn or ripped off to show how Sombra's army would deal with Intruders or incoming ponies that would try and surprise attack them. Why wouldn’t Sombra just kill any prisoners? Letting them go to continue fighting is counterproductive, no? My theory is that Sombra set up air defenses around the Crystal Empire to shoot down any Pegasi that tried approaching. It would shoot holes in their wings, infecting them. Oh my God, I cannot convey how much I just freaking broke down laughing just now. I spent the last week or so rewatching the Hazbin Hotel trailer pretty much on repeat. Someone mentioned that the singer for Alastor's song was Black Gryphon. The name sounded so freaking familiar, but I couldn't for the life of me place where I knew him from. Today, I decide to take a trip down memory lane and watch mlp reactions when I haven't touched the series in years now, and the name of this channel sounded familiar so I decided to choose this video. Lo and fucking behold, this just so happens to be where I know him from. What the actual hell are the chances of that? Edit: And now we have a reference to Dr. Facilier. Starlights reasoning should have been worse. Like she's not popular and is horrible at making friends but she did manage to make one friend (sunburst) she started to have feelings for sunburst but he got his cutie mark and left. She tried to visit/ write him but he wouldnt reply, she went to visit him and found that he had replcaed her. Heart broken she went back home and tried to start over but just couldn't seem to make another friend (make her socially awkward) due to this she moved as an adult and tried to get jobs all over, but having no cutie mark (yes in my version shes cutiemarkless) she fails or starts to get good only to be replaced by a poney with cutie marks. Show her trying job after job and show her wearing down over time as she repeatedly get replaced by a poney with cutie marks. She grows resentment towards cutie marks and starts studying and practicing magic where she finds out that she's a natural. (This is where she gets a cutie mark) she's proud of her cutie mark untill she gets bested by another unicorn in magic, perhaps sunburst and as its been a long time make sunburst not reconise her. Defeated she finds a small town where she convinces the ponies that cutie marks are bad and that everyone should be equal. Then just to hammer everything in more keep the part where she was painting over her cutie mark hench keeping her powers to make her better then eveyone to empower herself to make her feel useful and strong like she hasnt felt before in life.

Sunset Shimmer would have been a better choice even though she in the EQG universe. It seems to me like they were like "Hey! Starlight needs friends... The Mane 6!" Felt too rushed. Sunset compared to Starlight has a much better character development. I just hope Starlight's character is explored in season 6. Perhaps an episode focused on Starlight amending with Sugar Belle and the others. Just like Twilight rebonding with Moondancer. Even getting help from Sunset via the book.

It's a hard comparison to make as Starlight is about 2 movies behind Sunset in the development of the atoner arc. That being said, I don't necessarily want to see a straight retreading of the character arc. I would really like to see something in the next season that involves any combination of what I call "The Four Foils of Twilight" Trixie, who has Twi's ego Sunset, who has her friendship Moondancer, who has her intelligence And now Starlight who has her magical prowess. unfortunately, the next EG movie is coming out affect at least a first half of season 6, so we can't bring in Sunset quite yet, unless they want to connect the opening of S6 directly to Friendship Games

But for the Pony Universe to at least acknowledge the book would be fine by me. Although Sunset is my favorite Starlight has the potential to grow in character just like Sunset did. Starlight has more chances considering she's in the main show.
