Hey Tim, I thoroughly enjoy your videos and go to you probably 90% of the time for instruction. I don't care what you call a "thread distribution device" 😁 I'm watching to learn, not critique. Thank you for helping me become a better fly tier !

Always carry a knife. And if you're ever lost in the woods, start sharpening it. And sharpening it, and sharpening it. Eventually, someone will come along to tell you that you're sharpening your knife wrong and you can follow them out to the nearest road.

Great tutorial. Mike Jacobs of Hawkeye Fly Tyer is the original “creator” of this pattern. If you look closely this is a derivative of Tim Holschlag’s HHF (Holschlag Hackle Fly). Tim Holschlag passed away late last year, but his techniques live on. Specifically the crayfish hop under an indicator. Both patterns are awesome smallmouth patterns. My favorite under a strike indicator.

I love this video. You call things whatever you want. You’re a true master. If you want to say put the thread in a whatchamacallit, do it. You be you. 😁😁

Hello Tim! I love this video and fly. I found all the necessary materials in my tying bins and will start in the morning to tie some BG's. As to what people assume you should call tying tools and thread names, I have been tying, and fly fishing, for 47 years and I call tools what I want to call them and if someone is upset, not my problem. I have never had a student in my fly tying classes object to me calling a bobbin a bobbin. Sheesh, people are so hyper sensitive. My wife calls me OWG - Old White Guy and I think that's hilarious and correct.

All sarcasm noted, I can tell you this. Your tutorials on fly tying have helped me become pretty damn good at it! This is just another example, I can use this pattern on the lower Grand River in MI.

One of the reasons I love fly fishing is because I get to be alone. Generally speaking I hate most people... they're idiots🤣 (I think that's the correct terminology).

Strictly speaking a “bobbin” is a “cylinder or cone holding thread”, when used in industry or sewing However, it is definitely the case that the term “bobbin” is used by the tying community to refer to a device which holds the bobbin, and is advertised as a “bobbin”. Love your humor, Mr Tim. Don’t you take no crap from the word police

Nice fly. I will definitely tie some for bass. As for the pronunciation of "Denier", it's pronounced den'YER according to Webster. As for bobbin holder, C'mon man!!! Been named that since the flood. Keep giving us these great videos and your techniques to help us novice tyers improve.

@dahutful
@dahutful 2 жыл бұрын
It’s not even a bobbin holder… It’s a spool holder. Thread is wound on a bobbin in bulk to hold it, before it is wound onto a spool for use. So it’s not a bobbin, it’s not a bobbin holder… It’s a spool holder. You think especially manufacturers would know that.
@tightlinevideo
@tightlinevideo 2 жыл бұрын
Nope, not going to say "I load a spool holder with a spool of white UTC 140 denier". I'm going back to bobbin. Also not going to replace front and back with anterior and posterior. Or use dorsal and ventral instead of back and underside. There is also no way I'm going to say rachis rather then stem, just not going to happen. The whole thing is giving me a massive cephalgia.
