Watching this in 2023.... it's still the same.... I'm not really good with RTS since my micro is shit and stopped playing SC2 looong ago, but I know few simple things: 1)Do not slack on upgrades - if you have extra money use it on it. 2)More stuff kills less stuff, so do not send few units at the time and think you can micro like a pro, but amass big army and do 1-2 heeavy punch. 3)Minimap and scouting are kings - not much APM needed to sent cheapest unit to patrol some areas/bases. So it's mindblowing how people have not bad macro and micro, but totally ignore these basics.

You can clearly see the importance of macro. Having multiple bases and resources, you can throw everything away with cannons and still win the game. For every beginner out there (including me), expansions are really good, learn how to macro and gg.

Yeah I don't either. Last time I played I had been on hiatus for years and threw my placement matches(except one where opponent left when I gently poked him with maybe 4 lings before laying down to die) to be funny and work up from bronze for laughs, but still placed plat iirc. Maybe because of mmr before hiatus, but I had thought they were wiped. And placed in Platinum on release where I didn't belong (before diamond, Master or GM existed.) So try as I might I've never gotten to experience the bronze league struggle. And I'm not very good at sc2. I feel like my opponents lose far more often than I win even in diamond and low Masters when I was there for a short time.

I've always marveled at people who want to play an RTS game but don't want to attack things. I knew a lot of people like this, who just wanted to build static defense and sit, and would play nothing but 40+minute games. It's like pulling out a chess set because you want to play solitaire, I don't know why they would even want to play sc2 lol.
