Yes this was the best video ever. That was so successful to catch the bugs. I used tongs inside of a plastic bag. worked like a treat. Dropped in a bucket of vegetable oil, detergent and water. They died instantly. Oh and the bugs were in pairs which made it more easier to catch.

My tree is dying and I just now 😢realised it is because of these horrid orange bugs! Thank you for your help. Does pyrethrum kill them, as that is natural? What about a Neem oil drench? or D.E.? I will try the long tongs too! What a great idea! 😊

Just make sure you cover all surfaces well and repeat again in two weeks.and as I said in the video make sure to shake the container often to emulsify the oil and water. Good luck.

You know you'll need to pick them all off through the summer because they will ruin your fruit and branches. Make sure your trees fertilised and well watered. If you've had a lot of bronzorange bug on your tree make sure in winter you give it the spray two to three times to make sure you're controlling all the juveniles. Good luck

Hi there, I have three lemon trees in the back covered with the black ones, other than hand picking, how can I get rid of them? I just want to put my xmas lights on them but im scared of the bugs lol, I have a two year old and newborn so im scared to poison them? Please help

All you can do at this time of year, that is pesticide free, is vacuum them off with an old vacuum. Yates says this product works (I'll add the link below) but I haven't tried this so I don't know how effective it is. Bronze orange bug are hard to kill with sprays because the adults have a tough exoskeleton at this time of year. In winter, they are soft so the oil spray works then. Hi Trish. Just came across your video as I’m dealing with an infestation of BOB atm. Appreciate your simple advice but I’ve noticed that many of my adult BOBs seem to fly in from somewhere else. Any ideas on how to make my citrus trees (mandarin, lime and cumquat) less attractive to travellers? Thanks.

Hi Neil, yes, travellers are a problem. That's why it's important to spray every winter (twice or three times). I don't know of anything to deter the travellers, (apart from also spraying neighbours trees as well). They don't travel long distances and only the older adults can fly. Spraying in winter will reduce the infestation greatly though. As I mentioned in the video, coverage needs to be broad over the trees and to dripping point to make sure all the juveniles are smothered. Good luck.

There was this stuff called confidor but they stopped making it cause it was no good for the bees.

Confidor is a brand name. The active ingredient is Imidacloprid. You can still buy products with Imidacloprid. Bunnings did stop selling products containing Imidacloprid but you can still buy it elsewhere. When we look at control of pests in the industry, we like to use IPM ( integrated pest management) strategies. This is about using the most effective and lowest impact combination of strategies to control crop pests. That's why I just use the oil in winter method. Hope that helps. Happy gardening. Trish.
