Hey Neace. I think you did really good in terms of understanding your limits and your resonsibility. You're totally right: you're not a shrink. I'm just not sure if it is such a good/nice idea to put this coaching on KZbin. Yes, it was on a stream, but putting it on youtube does in fact exhibit him as the mentally challenged person he (clearly) is. It was interesting to watch it, but it might not be fun at all for him to see this video on youtube, to read the comments here and the comments in the chat. I'm not into psychology either, so I dan't really tell; but maybe somebody else here can. But if it is (reghtly) important to you that nobody sends him any hate, flame, that nobody trolls him and stuff then at least blur out the accountname if you can somehow.

@ferallemur

I feel like this used to be much more common back before Neace's coaching blew up in popularity and his prices went through the roof. That was also when coaching was done via VOD review instead of the current backseat driving. But back when it was like $30 or $50 for a session, there were a bunch of people who would book a coaching session looking for validation rather than coaching. They'd direct him to a specific VOD and say, "See?!? SEE WHAT I HAVE TO DEAL WITH?!? ELO HELL EXISTS!" Neace never gave them that validation. Seeing this video and thinking back on it, I feel like there's an opening for somebody to make some money. I would accept $50/hour to have "clients" rant about how bullshit their games are, and then just agree with them. I could dub my chat "The echo chamber" and train them to play along. It would be extremely therapeutic, and everybody would win (except for the clients, who would keep losing, obviously).

Kudos to the patience? This coach, while he does have the game knowledge to pass on to people, has ABSOLUTELY NO social skill in terms of coaching. When someone comes to you, asking for coaching you don't slam dunk on them like this. An unnecessarily aggressive stance like this is not efficient. If anything the hard stuck bronzie here has been given nothing but hostility through the entire ordeal. The player had questions and opinions because of the way he learned to play the game. Instead of probing the player's opinion and then dismantling it for effective coaching he goes guns blazing and asks rhetorical questions like "What am I assuming?". As we went on the player said "You sound like you're really pissed off right now", this is a sign of a FUCKING WALL that the coach constructed with the lack of empathy he's shown. Is the player insufferably delusional? Yes, however if the real coaching here is a lesson in humility there are more efficient ways to teach it. I think the player regretted even trying to learn anything from this guy and probably picked up on less than half the tips that were given just because of how he handled the interaction.

To be fair, in that sense Neace is a really bad coach. He has a great grasp on the game, but he has little grasp on how to get people to listen to him. I was an avid gamer, spending countless hours perfecting my skills in the virtual realm of League of Legends. Climbing the ranked ladder had become my obsession, and I had achieved a respectable standing in the upper echelons of the game. Little did I know that my success had attracted the attention of a malevolent group. It began subtly, with odd moments of lag and unexplained disconnections during my matches. I dismissed them as mere technical glitches, unaware of the sinister plot unfolding. But soon, my LP started vanishing at an alarming rate, dragging me down from the heights of Diamond to the depths of low elo. Something was amiss. Night after night, I found myself matched against opponents who seemed to possess an uncanny knowledge of my every move. My teammates displayed bizarre behavior, intentionally sabotaging me or appearing controlled like marionettes. The once-thrilling battles turned into a harrowing nightmare. Determined to uncover the truth, I delved into the dark recesses of the internet, tracing the threads to a notorious network of League of Legends hackers. Motivated by envy and seeking a worthy challenge, they had targeted me, stealing my hard-earned LP to train themselves. Armed with this knowledge, I refused to surrender. I studied their tactics, anticipating their every move. I gathered a group of fellow gamers, forming a resistance against their malevolence. The war raged on, victories and defeats in an unrelenting cycle. But my determination grew stronger with each match. Ultimately, my strategic prowess and unwavering spirit turned the tide. The hackers, faced with an indomitable force, retreated into the shadows, their reign of terror finally extinguished. I emerged scarred but resilient, a symbol of defiance in the gaming community. My legend spread, inspiring others to persevere against any challenge the virtual world might present.

I think because of ego some people are incapable of processing the idea that they aren't the best at something. I have a family member like this, he started a new job and within one week he was telling the boss (who had done the job all his life) how to do his job. He inevitably got fired very quickly and genuinely believed it was because he was too good for the job. It is very difficult if not impossible to teach or in any way get through to people like this, they will never learn or improve because they already see themselves as perfect. Very interesting video, btw I have never even played league, I'm just interested in psychology

I genuinely think I have gone a little crazy after watching this video... This guy thinks he's living in a simulation which even trying to understand that mentality puts you in a bad headspace. I can only imagine how unhappy of a person this guy is and I just hope he receives the help he needs. and Neace if you see this I want you to know I don't always agree with a lot of what you say/how you go about things... HOWEVER! that being said I think you handled this guy masterfully and infinitely better than I could ever so respect to you my good sir.
