the thing about the grog that grinds my gears, is that it has 1) the best slag chance of any pistol 2) the best type B crit modifyer 3) the best passive effect (drunk) 4) the best moxxi heal put any of these effects on a random non unique gun and it instantly is top tier. And the grog has FOUR of these. Meta-defining like no other gun.

the lie is that all other multi projectile weapons split amp damage as guns with unlisted projectiles get buffed by the bee such as some of the pellets of the harold and conference call and the toothpick

to explain this a bit better for those that dont understand, originally the bee would give max amp damage to all pellets, which was quickly nerfed due to things like the conference call bee combo. it was then changed to (what it is currently) spread damage between listed pellets, e.g. a shotgun with x10 pellets listed on the card (like 450x10 damage) will have [amp damage / 10] bonus damage per pellet, HOWEVER guns that have pellets that arent listed on the card (like the ricochet fibber) have each individual pellet gain max amp damage.

Honestly, after having listened to this and the rocket launcher rankings (and personally finding pistols as one of my two favourite weapons in these games), not only am I hoping to hear more of your thoughts and ranks, but it's got me to be hyped into getting back on BL2. I missed playing after years of taking a break. Also, 23:00 no one's ever called the Fibber "Nine Tails", though if that was a thing, I'd be unsurprised given what it does. Cheers for the video!

Fun fact about the grog nozzle: If you fire it then immediately switch to a gun of a different element before they explode, they will explode in the element of the second gun fired. And if you switch guns while you're drunk, you can make any gun into a shotgun whilst you're drunk. (And yes, it works with the nukem)

Most critical hit damage bonuses are scaled based on the critical hit damage itself (such Crit bonuses are referred to as Positive Scale, loot lemon just says Scale), so if the crit damage normally is 200, adding a +50% bonus would result in 200*1.5=300 damage. However the Grog's crit damage bonus is Pre-additive, meaning that it scales additively with the BASE DAMAGE of the weapon. Crits in BL2 deal double damage normally, IE, 200% of the weapon's base damage. This means a crit with the grog results in 200% + 400% = 600% of the base damage. That's only a 3x increase in damage, another way to express a 3x increase is to say it's a +200% multiplicative bonus. So really both are correct, but it's just a lot more helpful to say the Grog gives a +200% multiplicative crit bonus, especially since it does scale multiplicatively with most other crit damage bonuses. As a test you can do to prove this to yourself, shoot the target dummy in sanctuary using a normal Jakob's pistol, with and without the grog being offhanded, with no other gear, skills, or BAR. You'll see that adding the Grog will only increase the crit damage by 2.6x, this is because Jakob's pistols have a +50% pre-additive crit damage bonus. 200% + 50% = 250% for the baseline critical hit damage of Jakob's pistols. Adding the grog results in 250% + 400% = 650%, and 650%/250% = 2.6. This is different from the Positive Scale bonuses provided by things like sniper rifles and the lady fist, which work more like how you'd expect, with the 800% bonus provided by the lady fist resulting in critical hits dealing 9x the damage of critical hits not boosted by the ladyfist, or 18x the base damage. Positive Scale bonuses are multiplicative with Pre-additive bonuses.

Wanderlust is pretty decent on Anarchy Gaige, you can't aim anyways and at least every pellet will hit. Still not worth the effort, though. You also get a Tinderbox as a mission item in Clan War: Trailer Trashing, so 3.5 sources. Worst part about the Devastator: Due to a coding error the bullets are spawned behind the gun, making it really weird and annoying to use. The Gwen's Head has a funny use in speedruns as its crit bonus is multiplicative rather than the more common additive. And in old versions you can transfer and stack those bonuses, creating an explosive damage growth.

The fibber is also one of the best weapons for Gaige in the game. The ricochet bullets get the massive damage of anarchy, and aim 50% of the time with close enough, but their damage is NOT halved. So it's a very accurate and super strong weapon in her hands. Also slap a bee shiled on top if you just want things even deader I guess.

The gunerang is also a crazy axton speed kill weapon on raid bosses because it takes a bit to come back. So you can throw a bunch before triggering the boss for a massive burst of damage.

Other slight correction as is noted on loot lemon and all the wikis, the bee shield grants full amp to ANY unlisted pellets/projectiles, the bee shield, likely due to spaghetti code, only considers projectile count listed on the card for damage division, so weapons like the unkempt harold are ALSO busted by the bee shield as all of its extra projectiles are unlisted projectiles and thusly default to max amp damage, this also breaks weapons like the storm sniper because surprisingly, the tesla orbs are granted full amp for each tick, the biggest problem the bee shield has for me,,, rhat i have to try to keep the damn thing full to take advantage of its incredibly buggy damage interactions, when i could use many other shields for better survivability and still acheive perfectly passable damge out put, the bee shield is a very fun weapon, but losing its amp effect if it so much as has a scratch in it, kind of makes it one of those things where its GREAT if your set up is melting a boss in .03 seconds, and absolute borderline ass under any circumstance where your fighting more than one to two things at a time, but yeah, the ricochet/nine-tails fibber isnt the only weapon which has this interaction with the bee, if a gun fires multiple projectiles but only lists one projectile on the card, the bee damn near double to triples its damage output, the bee is hands down probably the jankiest piece of gear in bl2, i will never understand how gearbox left something that busted entirely unchecked

I just went back and checked and I was wrong. The initial hit is boosted by grenade damage, but the rising ball explosion is pure splash damage and isn't boosted by grenade damage. It does give you rocket ammo, but I don't think it's boosted by rocket damage buffs. I could be wrong, this game has spaghetti code.

The Wanderlust has 2 niche uses, its ok for mobbing in the hands of gaige and krieg. Anarchy doesnt change much of how the shots function so its pretty much free extra damage, and the darts proc bloodbath so you can spam the wanderlust on a gun krieg build for some solid enough effect

Gaige main here. Thunderball Fists provides a small niche I would say something like the KerBlaster would fulfill. That being slow or stationary enemies, like that of Nomads, Bruisers, and most Loaders. They aren't meant for general mobbing, nor are they meant for bosses outside of Master Gee of all things (sand worms go brr). When it comes to pistols I'm easily going to prefer the fibber or little evie, but the Thunderball Fists aren't ENTIRELY useless. They just need their time and place, like most non-meta weapons

The DPUH was my first ledgendary. Got it at level 8 on my first play through, before I knew anything about parts, dedicated drops or even skill synergy. Level 8 Zer0, used it until level 15 or so before I noticed I wasn't killing everything in one hit anymore 😂 I don't remember what my second ledgendary was, it paled in comparison to the might of the DPUH. I've still got it stored away in one of my old character banks somewhere. I should dig it out some time and see what parts I was blessed with for my first experience of true power in Borderlands.

There's not enough words to describe how happy I am to see the Law crack the top 10, it's one of my favorite guns in BL2 and absolutely carried me in my first playthrough. I prefer it over the Rapier because it actually does decent bullet damage and doesn't make you more vulnerable to melee.

Also on the Grog Nozzle crit damage part it could be that it's added before crit multipliers. The player has a base crit damage of x2 and the Grog Nozzle adds x4 (+400%) making it x6 crit damage, which is three times higher or +200% more crit damage. That's just my guess, there was a similar thing for Risk of Rain 2 where an item increased your crit damage by +100%, people thought it double crit damage but it added x1 to the base x2 crit damage multiplier, making it a 50% total increase.

I haven't played Bl2 in a long time, but I remember I would always go back and farm a new hornet when the first one stopped being good. Then I would farm another one for the Roland mission. Beyond that, I basically would stop using it, but that's a good 13-15 levels using it, so it's not bad.
