What is the best way to clean your hive tools between hive visits? Or even between hives if checking on a single day?

Howdy, I'm from Texas and I live in a residential area where I don't want more than 2 hives. After the first split, what do you recommend I do to control their population without needing to split? Before having to cut out swarm cells, would adding a brood box be better or could another super be added to spread them out? Basically, I'm wondering if there is a way for me to maintain a consistant number of 2 hives without bothering neighbors with swarms?

is NE the best direction to face your flow hive in south eastern Australia and will my bees need a full super of honey to get through winter in Yass NSW or do you think I will also need to feed them😀

How long does it take the bees to make comb in an empty frame?

I thought bees were supposed to have a clear flight path two the entrance. It looks like there is only about a meter between the entrance and the plants. It there a reason for doing that?

I need a brood box exactly like you are working with now...that is compatible with Flow 2. What components do I need? Tks.

Hi Bill I have been using cinnamon around the bottom of my flowhive and this has helped also you can put the legs in a container ie margarine containers that holds water. I haven’t done this yet as I’m happy with the cinnamon

I have tried having legs on the hive in water. Sadly the water disappears too quick to be effective.

Why don’t you remove the comb located on the edges? Thank you.

Thank you so much for not destroying the propolis the bees work so hard to put throughout the hive to protect themselves. It is very beneficial for humans too, but it's insulting for the hive, it also keeps the terrible critters out too. No, I don't currently have any hives. But over 2 years of thorough research into bees. So that I don't totally bomb when I do get bees into my top bar that's in my yard. 😉

Bill Hi Cedar what do you suggest about controlling the ants

To be candid, I do not like your company for valid reasons that I have about the ultra pro positive marketing and not supplying the essential items for the success of the product your selling, it has many flaws, however the product with management and knowledge works seamlessly. With respect but a valid ask, what's the deal with the original Patent of this design, United States Patent US2223561 by Juan Garriga who this Spanish gentleman invented in aluminium but you guys modified in plastic ?. Not being cheeky !, just wanting to research the facts. Not giving customers worker foundation promotes excess drone cells being drawn out in the brood chamber. A weaker engine for honey production. The perforated sharp edged excluders your supplying damage bees wings, and plastic excluders cannot be easily cleaned of burr combe, steel wired ones don't. Why didn't you guys make the flow frames cells Drone sized as the bees do for honey, less plastic more capacity as they are larger. Less wax required to repair the cells after draining. One last important point for now, why don't flow pre dip the flow frames in bees wax, or provide a block of bees wax for melting and application as bees wont work the plastic unless its treated with bees wax or delay work greatly. I deal with many enquiries re this product. Experienced 45 years "experienced" bee keeper with the classic box of 6 frames running for two years now, about to review the Chinese version of the 1940 patent system. I sell huge numbers of colonies to clients in Tasmania.
