Broody hen bantam adopt and sits on eggs that aren't hers

These two mixed breed Wyandotte (right side) hen and Sussex Buff (left side) are broody. I gave them both 3 fertile eggs each to raise. Hope that they will be good mothers...it's about 8 days into sitting the eggs. Probably time to do some candle egg lighting to check if it's alive : )

Daniel Naumann being broody isn’t exactly a health issue, it can cause them to not eat and drink but all it is, is the chicken putting more investment into hatching the eggs

They make a good cuddle beside us by our hand sitting on us chilling....can try doing that while chatting about the day or watching news...but they tend to poop sometimes uncontrollably lol...

Bantam hens are awesome. I've never had one that I didn't love. For such small birds, they are incredibly loving. The roosters however, can be awesome or little turds.

Had two broody bantams. Put 2 fertile eggs from another hen under one and they took turns sitting and when the chicks hatched both acted as step moms doing a great job. It is now 8 weeks and the two chicks have joined the flock. One broody is laying again. We'll know in a couple of months if we have hens or rooster. I hope they're hens because we send our extra roosters to Rooster Island. It's beautiful watching the process go the entire circle.
