I am sure that most loving and caring pet parents know that their little ones are the most beautiful creatures on the planet. And, they (and YOU) are CORRECT! I got my last birdie pet, an orange singing canary, about 65 years ago. When my parents, my grandmother, and I went on a very short summer vacation our next door neighbor told us that she would love to take care of Dickie. So we gave her the necessary items - cage, food, black & white newspaper, cuttlebone, water dish, etc. When we returned home we went right over to get our songster. Our neighbor was crying inconsolably and brought us over to the cage. We all had to fight off tears. She explained that the temperature in the house had dipped below 90 degrees. (Yes, 90 degrees F). So because Dickie was so small, she didn't want him to catch a chill, so she put him right next to her open flame gas heater to keep him warm. I don't think she ever forgave herself. She really was such a sweet person and we loved her until she passed.

FIRST FLIGHT 🎉 Only folks who have raised birds from naked to feathers know that proud feeling. Its the same feeling as when your kid walks to you!
@paintedwings745 ай бұрын
It sure is! I remember flight-training with my baby sparrow, raising her up on my finger and then dropping down swiftly as she fluttered her wings ferociously. It was exhausting for her! She could only manage it one or two drops at first, before she wanted a good long nap. A day or two later, she had enough loft to nearly come off my finger, so we started doing drops in the bathroom (confined space) and she did it! She flew several feet! And then she had to figure out how to land, lol. That was another lesson altogether.
