There is something i love so much about Brook's comment on Luffy, Brook is very loud and weird in this whole episode but when Luffy says that he will help him,he just says "you are a really great guy" in such a differeent tone, yu can tell he was somewhat taken a back, is small but it humanizes Brook really well, even tho he is a skeleton, Yohohoho. Now for One Piece at a time: In the manga the chapter after Ace and Teach fight, there are a couple of pages showing us more of the inside of the ship, like the bathroom and Chopper's medical bay. if i remember right those pages were put at the start of the last filler arc (which is really bad by the way), also like the Merry, in the manga there are multiple diagrams of the inside and outside of the Sunny made by Oda.

ehhh the ice hunters arc isn't that bad in its first half, its jsut really meandering and repititive in its second half, and most of the villains are pretty lame (though i do think the boss of the group is fairly decent as an antagonist). Its premise of trying to recover the crew's flag is a fairly fun one tho. Now Ocean's Dream, on the other hand, is awful, no redeeming that one.

Brook saying "Today is a great day, I met people" and everything in this scene hits so hard. I like how incredibly quickly Oda can get an emotional reaction out of his readers. It's thanks to the contrast between his jovial attitude and the reality of his situation that really hits once he gets more genuinely happy. If he'd just been "woe is me, my tale is so sad" the whole time, it would be like feeling the author breathing down our neck and ordering us to be sad for Brook. That would be more annoying than emotional. But because we got to have fun with the silly skeleton that whole time and it only really now dawn on us how horrible his story is, and not through negative emotion, but through positive ones, it just feels way more natural and impactful. Expressing sadness through joy is a really effective tool.

I also quite enjoy this arc, my only problem is that drags a bit too much (but to be fair that's my main complaint about most arcs). If -gods willing- the live action ever adapts triller bark, I'm pretty sure they can do it in 2-3 episodes without losing anything of too much value.

9:26 One thing that I never see talked about. Brook is singing [that song] which is in a major key (meaning it sounds happy) but what he's doing is switching the tonic around to match the dissonant and atonal OST that we've heard dozens of time by this point. The result is a chilling and nightmarish rendition of [that song] while still staying true to the original melody, all the while subtly showing Brook's deteriorating mental state. It's just a brilliant little detail!

there were too many references in thriller bark arc that its actually genius. i saw a one piece analysis video on thriller bark and was surprised at, for example, absalom and lola's characters. if the theory was right, those 2 characters weren't just randomly created. sadly, people would just shit on the arc because its not as grand as water 7 or the next saga
