Brooke Candy specifically stated that she is fascinated with the concept of duality, which was the title of this song's instrumental. I don't know why anyone is surprised or disappointed by this awesome song being "different" from her old stuff. People have multiple sides, different emotions, and so one cannot expect an artist to produce the same product infinitely.

I feel like this is a similar thing to what happened to Grimes, most of her followers loved her old stuff, some of those hated the principle behind the artist evolving in a more mainstream direction. At the end of the day artists are people and want to be able to have a good quality of life and therefore the more exposure they get, the easier it is to accomplish that and then have more freedom than they ever did before to produce the music they want. Artists can't be the same people forever and if they spewed out the same stuff all the time the same people who hate the new stuff would complain over lack of originality. If you love the artist then support the artist. If you don't like their music, don't listen to it, they're still the same person and they would not be making music they themselves hated. Just becuase it is a new sound does not make it a bad one, it may hit you with nostalgia but that does not instantly invalidate as a piece of music.

Just because an artist is dynamic and has the ability to express themselves in various ways does not mean they have lost the beautiful identity that got them to this point, it just means they are human. No one is one dimensional and it's okay to make lots of different types of music and experiment. I think this song is unique still and actually stands for something important!
