What's the point of have door close buttons if Schindler doesn't let you use them? Is it the controller doesn't have a command on it?

IDK, that is how the way Schindler is functioned.

It kind of does work, I think it is just a timer deal. It could also be disabled under normal use. I also did my first hotel room tour video.
