I mean it all depends on the premise of the fake show they were doing. I know it's a sketch obviously but usually in these types of scenarios, the contestants have already seen the woman and are attracted to her and are fighting to be number 1, so that's more than likely what the crowd thought was going on. So for him to agree to be on the show so that he can win a date with her and then turn around and say she's not his type is one hell of a funny scenario 🤣 Or it could have been a blind date type of scenario, in that case it's not as bad but you would still wait until you're off air to say anything and not embarrass her like that on live air. This was a brutal punishment, poor Sal 🤣

Ignore the teenagers, this is a TV show and adults understand they have an expectation to at least give things a try in such an exceptional circumstance. Thus the booing from the crowd - it's one thing if she's "not his type" when she approached him at a bar. I don't understand why people like this punishment; 1. Sal didn't even come off rude, more like 'I don't see it going anywhere, I don't want to play pretend and get her hurt' 2. He got trashed just because he said the girl wasn't his type. Most people would find it completely tolerable if it was the other way around and it was the girl rejecting a man. 3. It just feels forced. Brooke goes all the way to be unnecessarily toxic for no reason at all. The punishment would be better if it was just extremely awkward, now it's just... Insulting Sal for literally just saying the girl isn't his type. 4. The way Brooke and the audience react is... Well, pretty sexist really. Acting as if the woman is always perfect and any rejection is unwarranted, but a man always has to like every woman who wants to be liked.

This was very weird because they were both in the wrong. To the audience's perspective the contestant made some rude comments but was clearly uncomfortable. Then, the host becomes aggressive and starts to berate him with even more direct rude comments. The audience still cheers for the host even though they kicked the last contestant off the show. I'm not saying this comment is about gender dynamics in social settings but about how hosts/people with more power than other people can get away with a lot, supported by an audience as well.

Exactly. It's not the audience being sexist. They always do tend to cheer whatever the host does. I'm reminded of that show (I forgot it's name) where the host literally asks the people what their biggest fear is and then throws that fear in their face. The audience laugh and cheer for the host even as that one poor lady runs away screaming. Also keep in mind that Sal presented himself as a bad person before this so I'm sure some people were happy to see him get roasted.

I wish I could watch an entire post-Joe episode, but to me, it’s just not the same! The two-guys-watching/commenting and two-guys-participating/competing can never happen again, and that was my favorite scenario. I know there are a million celebrities who can’t wait to be on the show, but the vibe and chemistry are not the same! I can tell Sal, Murr and Q are thrilled to be interacting with the celebs, but…this feels like a completely different kind of show and maybe should even have a new title? Please come back, Gatto!

Usually those shows are partially staged, so he should already know who he's dealing with. Either way, the common way to go about it would be rejecting her off screen. Sal made it seem like he's a nice soul that can't pretend to be interested for a few minutes. He definitely didn't deserve this, but hey, it's a punishment.
