Painted Sourdough Christmas Wreath

Hi friends!
I know, I've been a little absent on here again. Can you hear my cold in my voice? It tore through the bakery and knocked me out for a good 3 days and lingers still in my voice...
I'm constantly trying to balance running a bakery with being creative outside of that which is much more challenging than I'd expected. I think I probably just need to lean into food content right now, I think that will make the balancing aspect a little easier so if there are certain recipes that you'd like to see, put them in the comments.
For this sourdough, I'm using americolor gel food colors and a round paintbrush (size 6)

Literal pro tip - flour the blade, and you'll get cleaner scoring.

So I’ve always wondered about sourdough starter, do you have to keep feeding it flour and throwing out some of the starter? I haven’t tried to because I don’t think I can afford to keep the starter alive

Technically yes but you can keep your starter in the fridge for a couple of weeks at a time, then bring out and refresh with a couple of feedings before use. Or, just keep a very small starter and only feed a couple tablespoons of flour a day.

The dough looks very nice and the drawings actually still popped. Usually when baked they lose their vibrancy. Maybe because the paintings were on the surface and not infused to the dough. I would be hesitant to eat this since I don’t want to ruin the art, haha. Note: the brush shouldn’t be left in the water standing like that. The bristle will be ruine and ferrule will be loose. Happen to my old brushes before I learned the hard way. Fortunately it was inexpensive.

Hi (english person here) - Look up "BBC food Mary Berry Christmas Pudding" I'm not a fan of it myself but it's like sprouts, you've got to have it at the table anyway!

I actually made English pudding a few years ago! I loved it, my American family politely ate it but it wasn’t popular enough to have an encore. I’ll have to try Merry Berry’s!
