Great show Steph. A lot more American cars at your shows than i thought. They seem to be fairly popular. Ladas were sold in Canada including the Samara. I had two a1981 1500 S and an 1986 Lada Signit both 1.5 liter . Saw lots if Samaras but never had one. They were actually Russian built Fiats as you know. Had no trouble with them and were as reliable as the Chrysler mini vans i had. Always started no mater how cold the weather. As far as a favorite you have too many really great cars there I would have to pick a dozen. Looking forward to your next video. PS No shows here just snow and tons of salt on the roads.

VAZ 2101 - VAZ 2107 cars were copies of the Fiats. Lada Samara is an independent development, with some participation from Porsche and Volkswagen.

Thanks for saying lots of good things about Brooklands Steph. I couldn’t make it this year but it looks another good one. I’ve been a member here for years and my late dad worked here until he was made redundant when the site began to close in 1988. He helped secure all the buildings to set up the museum in 1990. It holds a special place in many peoples hearts and was very nearly lost to development. Thank you again.

The car at around 7.12 is a chopped 1940's Lincoln Zephyr by the looks of it, with the grille being the only distinctive way of identifying it. It could perhaps be an homage to the Chip Foose/ Boyd Coddington build. There are some absolutely stunning cars there, although I don't care much for the modern stuff, I do appreciate that there are enthusiasts, showing their cars & keeping the movement alive. Great video, the cause of lots of drooling & envy for me.

Hi Steph, love the video. Re the Italian Zephyr, I’ve seen that a few times at the show over the years, so I guess it’s UK based. If you get there between 9 and half past you get to see many of the cars coming in. With those parked on ‘the bank’, it’s not easy to reverse up as it’s so steep. I always hope a) the handbrake works b) it’s been left in gear. 🥴 That part of the site is usually ‘full’ by 10ish. You really need 3 hours min to see all the cars and auto jumble, plus time for the museum if you’ve not been before. So many car events there, an annual ticket/membership is great value. 😀

Good to see you making the trip from Coventry. Well done. I was there early-doors and also got short shrift from the marshals for climbing the banking. I left early afternoon to avoid the impending rain, as many did I suspect. The Sunbeam Cafe staff worked like Trojans all day and deserve a special mention. They had a deal for becoming a Brooklands member whereby you effectively got a refund of the ticket price. How could we resist? A bargain compared to Goodwood… A great day-out.

The "work in progress" vehicle at the 7:04 minute mark started out as a '39 Lincoln, I believe. Mike Bello of Bellos Kustoms Chula Vista, CA builds cars like this. If you're interested in the process including design and fabrication, Mike has many videos on KZbin that will take you through the build. One of Mike's favorite words is "locochon" which describes the degree customization. I'm sure Mike would give this Lincoln's roof chop a muy locochon rating. Loved this video. It was like walking through a vast car park where mundane vehicles got to rub bumpers with the most exotic ones. Very egalitarian!

Great show, so thanks for showing us Steph! Also, the car at the 7:03 mark looks to be (American) a 1940's Mercury, which was a Ford brand sold here in the US as an intermediate car, slotted between the "bread and butter" Ford brand and the luxurious Lincoln brand. Clearly the bodywork as been customized ("chopped and shaved"), which is big in some circles here in the US. Also, the wagon at the 6:49 mark is a Ford Falcon (or Fairlane or Torino, depending on the year). My parents had the sport version when I was a very small kid, a 1970 Ford Torino Cobra. I was all of 4 years old and loved that car. Also, when we had it, it wasn't that old of a car (I'll be 49 here in a few days).

G’day Steph. I visited Brooklands when I was over there in January, 2009. I spent the whole day there! The Concorde Experience is really worth the cost. It was a bitterly cold mid week day and I was the only one who turned up, so the guy did the tour anyway. Seeing as I was the only one on the tour, he took my picture in the pilot’s seat. It hangs on my garage wall! I was so impressed when I went back for a wedding in 2010 I took my sons and son-in-law back there, again all day. This time I got my photograph taken inside a Harrier Jump Jet. Great memories of Brooklands. Anyway, a couple of other things - they sold Lada Nivas and Samaras over here in Australia - not very popular and not very reliable! I have a soft spot for Morris Minors as they first car I owned back in the early ‘70’s was a 1958 Series 3 (I think) 4 door. So I love to hear your stories about Morris’s! Been watching your show for a long time and I watch your latest one ever Sunday. Thank you Steph!

Love the Ford Consul Mark II convertible at 7.55, a very rare car indeed! The odd looking car with the very lowered roof line appears to be an American 1940s Ford (Lincoln ???) hot rod. The very "chopped" roof line is an extreme form of customising

One car I've never seen at a car show is a Facel Vega HK500, a luxury French sports Coupe with a Chrysler 6.2 V8 engine. My late boss had one in the 1970s which I had the opportunity to buy for £800 but the insurance for me as a 18 year old would have been horrendous.

Great stuff Steph as I've come to expect, question, do you have any friends with American classic and would they share their experiences in up keep of their rides cause I was wondering how they get their spares and bits to keep their vehicles on the roads of the U.K. Any reply will be appreciated or maybe a video presentation on it . I have a 66 Chevrolet Corvair and I daily it in the spring through till the first week of November it runs me around $3,587 a year with the most expensive part binging insurance. Just curious cause I live in Pennsylvania, USA. Thanks

Yes! If you speak to Niamh Frances smith on my friends list she can advise who they use. There’s a big parts importer and I think it takes about a week for parts.

Remember in the late 80s Lada Samaras in SLX trim all had full make it go faster body kits on them and they actually looked ok. Not ok enough that i would ever have bought one as i could not put up with the slagging's and the shame 😂😂

7:04 The body on this one is a (possibly reproduction) pre-war Mercury (more posh than a Ford, less so than a Lincoln) in the midst of conversion to a "street rod". Those were the cornerstone of American "kustomotive" culture starting in the 50s and are only now waning in popularity. The wheels imply this was built on a more modern frame; Mustang or Crown Vic/Town Car are common. The roof is "chopped and channeled" with fully modern glass mounts. The headlights are (almost certainly) reproduction Willys units with integrated turn signals frenched (made fully flush) into the fenders. Typically all the running gear is quite modern with an interior not unlike a bourgeois honeymoon suite. These things cause quite a stir when finished to a high level.
