Brooklyn business connected to suspected Medicare fraud ring

Medicare recipients across the country say a Brooklyn business has been fraudulently collecting taxpayer dollars for medical supplies in their names. CBS New York has learned the company is connected to a multimillion dollar suspected fraud ring. Why dont they send out statements to those whose insurances are used to verify in the statement what care or services they received? If there is objection, the care recipient would notify medicare and they would blacklist the billing company until charges from the same company are authenticated.

Medicare needs a better fraud detection system. Anomaly detection algorithms/software would easily pick this up. (I've worked on designing some simple algorithms to detect credit card fraud.) The examples cited in this are so extreme, it makes me think that Medicare doesn't have any system of either verification of a large, statistically deviant purchase or to detect fraud.

Who is their accreditation company that certified them?? They can identify these scams earlier than anyone. Plus they can pull their billing number virtually on demand.

$60B in fraud annually? Well, that sounds like one reason that MediCare might be “Running Out of Money”. A Billion Point something spike in catheter sales seems like something that really should’ve raised somebody’s eyebrows.
