I have a 66 Mustang Coup that I am just starting the restoration of here in Alaska. Your videos have been priceless in educating me. I am a very exacting individual too. I now go to car shows and look at people's restoration jobs with a much more critical eye. Thank you. Drive on good sir!

These videos are great and very informative! Appreciate all the video "lessons" and sharing. Also, I thought I was the only person in the United States that still has a Drill with a Chuck Key!

The exhaust reinforcement were on GT and K code cars. The only cars with factory dual exhaust. If you want to see some pics of the factory ones, email me.

THANK YOU...for sharing. Barry, Mrcool is sitting in the garage, came on a skid. Have some stuff to take care of in the garage first and then I'll get started installing. :) I will be reviewing your Mrcool video installation. I appreciate the time you take to make your videos, they sure do help. Thanks, Gary

Cool... and hot.... Learn from any mistakes I may have made. I believe I opened the lines in the wrong sequence, but it didn't cause any issues.

Good job Jo Daddy. I have a set I need to install one day. Very helpful.

Thanks for showing those. I have never seen those before. My 67 had some oversized washers welded in where the mounting bolts go . I guess the previous owner had welded them in. Those panels are a much better option.

Thanks for another great video! Some info: The factory dual exhaust cars came with these reinforcements. Many, probably the majority of early Mustangs ordered with a V-8 only came with a single exhaust, and no reinforcements. Later, as people added headers and dual exhaust, they ran large sheet metal screws into the floor pan here to hang the rear of the 2 mufflers. The floor is thin, and would flex and tear due to natural exhaust movement. There are different prices and quality level of reinforcements available. Scott Drake I think makes ones suitable for those going the factory correct route. Likely better fit. More expensive, and not needed in most cases. Oddly, this morning when I saw this video, I was just heading out to my garage to finish my repair of this area on my '67 Mustang. I posted a video about this issue on my car last year. I chose to fabricate my own just using flat plates of 1/16" sheet metal. Will post a follow up video soon, showing the finished job. My video last year just shows the damage and explains the issue.

Nice work. I’m still unsure how the muffler support works. I imagine that will be in update 45 or so... thanks, Gary

I believe it just adds some strength to the mount point for the muffler carrier. 45 sounds about right.

I didnt know this was an issue.. have you seen that area ripped out from holding the mufflers, seriously asking
@JoDaddysGarage5 жыл бұрын
@@teknowil Have not. I Like I said, i was unfamiliar with these. Apparently they were factory installed on GT cars.

I just took a look at this area on my 66 vert. It’s stripped of every nut and bolt at the moment. While not a GT, it has had dual exhaust for the past 25 years. No sign of wear or metal fatigue here. This being said, I will likely still install them. Cheap insurance for 60 bucks.
