I would have loved to have see the Brooklyn Dodgers in action in Brooklyn, but I was born in 1967. I am a Dodger fan and became a Brooklyn fan after reading The Boys of Summer. Gil Hodges is my favorite Brooklyn player.

Great video. I miss the Brooklyn Dodgers. Im 20 and have never lived in Brooklyn, Ive lived in Florida my whole life. But my grandpa grew up there and was a huge Dodgers fan. Which is why they would be my favorite team if they were still in Brooklyn

The Dodgers may have won only 1 modern world series in Brooklyn. However, the franchise won some pennants before the World Series became official in 1903. They won 2 as the Bridegrooms and 2 as the Superbas. They were called the Bridegrooms because a number of players got married 1 off season.

Brooklyn Dodgers. I didn’t grow up in Brooklyn, but I loved that team, Dem Bums. No other group of fans could love their team more. I did grow up watching them, and when I was a young lad, I had the honor of trying out for a little league team called the Brooklyn Dodgers, and I’m proud to say, was successful. To this day I have fond memories of that. Brooklyn Dodgers moving, nothing short of sacrilege. Very, very sad day for Brooklyn fans and for baseball itself. They could have kept the team, but like all things in corporate America, it’s all about the bottom line. 😞

Actually the Barclays Center is located at the site that Walter O’Malley wanted for a domed stadium for the Dodgers. The location of Ebbets Field is now the location of Ebbets Field Apartments.

The flagpole that was in Ebbets Field is outside of Barclays center

I think Tex Rickards died in 1971. He's another one I would have loved to meet.

What a terrific story about the Dodgers , and you're right about them living in bklyn , although even I'm to young to remember them playing I had a great aunt and uncle who lived in flatbush and Gil Hodges lived on the same street as they did , I was so little I didn't really know who Gil Hodges was or had an appreciation for him or the Dodgers but knew he was famous , so everytime we visited them I would spend the visit outside the house hopeful I'd see Gil Hodges , I never did see him , but to be honest I was so young that I didn't know what he looked like anyway ,,,,, it wasn't until I got older did I know and by that time my aunt and uncle had moved from that area ,,,, so whatta ya gonna do right 🤷🏼♂️ Thanks for sharing and Godbless you and your family 🙏

Would be amazing if Oakland A's went to LA then ship the Dodgers back to Brooklyn !! Fickle fans in LA would never know the difference... But congratulations to them and their championship😊🎉

Most of my family were Brooklyn Dodger fans. I was only three years old when they left, and felt I was robbed of my true legacy. I became a Yankee fan as they were the only team left in New York. When the Mets were born in 1962, they played at the old Polo Grounds and we would go to games when the LA Dodgers came to town. We wouldn't root for either team: instead we would root for the old players from Brooklyn like Hodges, Craig, Zimmer, Duke, Drysdale, Podres...etc.
