Yes! Communication is the biggest key! Telling them little things like you mentioned above is a good way to keep each other in that personal daily "life loop" and that is fairly important! It's also nice to know that they are clearly thinking about you since they reached out. It won't always be easy, but keep that communication up and make it a priority!

I also think this relationship is sm better because they are both mature and older. They are willing to do the distance. Not that her relationship with Parker wasn’t mature but it just seemed more like kiddish love versus this is more serious. They can’t just kid around with this. It’s long distance so they have to be serious and intentional with everything they do. Watching them makes me happy. It’s so cute. I’m excited for this relationship. They click so well. Definitely a great match.

Long distance advice: COMMUNICATION. Being able to talk in a calm and private space helps so much. Talk about all of the uncomfortable things or weird things and get to know what matters most to each other. Miscommunication can happen so easily when you’re not together. Stay open minded and just talk.

My now husband and I did LDR for 2.5years (Ireland to NJ - so 5 hour time difference which SUCKS!!) We did FaceTime every night, used to watch movies together by hitting play at the same time, and later by using Netflix Party, we used to organise to cook or order something that was the same (like both order pizza or cook steak) and then eat together and pretend we were on a real date, and we spent A LOT of money on transatlantic flights to see each other every 1-2 months and always made an extra effort to visit the other on occasions like birthday days, holidays etc.! It's hard, I'm not gonna lie, there are days when all you'll want is a hug from them! Also, keep yourself busy in the meantime by meeting up with friends, school work, projects etc! Best of luck xx

Here’s some relationship advice and you can apply this to all relationships. Not just romantic ones. 1.) You and the other person must respect one another equally! If you’re in a relationship where someone insults you, makes rude jokes about you, pressures you into doing things you don’t want to do, or tries to constantly sway you out of your own opinions, that’s an unhealthy relationship. A person who truly cares for you will let you be your own person and if they don’t agree with you, they will do so respectfully. Choose kindness everyone! 2.) Compromise! People see an ideal romantic relationship as hugging, kissing, cuddling and all that but it’s not. No relationship (romantic or not) will be all sunshine and rainbows. You’ll have times where you disagree with each other but that’s alright. If you want to be in a long-term relationship, you must put your differences aside and meet in the middle. 3.) Communication + telling the truth! This goes along with trying to compromise with one another. If you and your partner need constant breaks from each other because you argue too much or don’t know how to communicate, that’s not good. To keep a relationship long-term it’s better that you share your true feelings with the person on matters. Being vulnerable and having emotional conversations isn’t a weakness! It’s a strength! You and your partner, friend, family member, etc; will feel much better if you get your emotions off of your chest and sooner rather than later. 4.) Trust! If you don’t trust the person you’re in a relationship with, why are you with them in the first place? If you don’t trust the person you’re in a relationship with, think they may potentially be cheating on you or badmouthing you behind your back, stick to your gut instinct. Break up with someone if you can’t trust them! 5.) Love one another equally! If you don’t feel as much passion towards the other person as they feel towards you, you shouldn’t be in a relationship with them. Don’t lead the other person on! Once again, sometimes you need to tell the truth even if it hurts. It’ll hurt less if you say something sooner rather than later if you’re just not feeling it anymore. 6.) Don’t judge a book by its cover! Do you love a person for their looks only? Are you only in a relationship for sexual pleasures? Personally, that’s not my ideal kind of relationship. I’d prefer if someone loved me for my personality as well. Each person is different, but in my opinion, before getting into a relationship, I’d ask the person what kind of relationship they’re looking for. 7.) Still not over you ex? Don’t get into a new relationship then! If your head is still in the past, if you’re still heartbroken or still love your ex, why are you in a new relationship? I’m not shaming people who feel this way. I’m just saying that if you still feel this way, it would be best to give things some more time before you get into another relationship. 8.) Laugh! It’s important that your relationship isn’t just serious all the time. Share some laughs! Tease each other! Be goofy and childish! Find someone who doesn’t mind weirdness and won’t judge you. 9.) Have some things in common! If you don’t have anything in common, what do you talk about? Your partnership, friendship or familial relationship will be awkward if you don’t have any beliefs or hobbies in common. You can like and believe in different things, however, you need to have some things in common with the other person to make the relationship last. 10.) Too busy to commit? Don’t get into a relationship then! If you know your life is too hectic with work, family or whatever then you shouldn’t be in a relationship. If you don’t have the time to commit to another person for whatever reason, things won’t work out. 11.) Don’t guilt trip someone constantly! People can be busy and it’s fine but as long as they’re at least trying to manage their time outside of the relationship and their time with you, don’t put too much pressure on them. Don’t get them to do things they aren’t willing to do either. There’s nothing wrong with trying to get someone out of their shell, but if someone isn’t willing to do something, don’t pressure them into it. If you constantly keep seeing the flaws in a person and want to change a lot about them, why are you in a relationship with them? Why are you in a relationship with a person who doesn’t love you as you are? 12.) Hold up your ends of bargains! If you make a deal with someone and can’t keep your promises, then what are you doing? To make a relationship work, you must work for it. At least try to work, try to compromise, try to make time with the other person. Just try! 13.) Comfort one another! If something bad happens in one or both of your lives, be there for one another. Be that shoulder to cry on! If the person you’re in a relationship with can’t be there for you during hard times or isn’t empathetic, why are you with them? 14.) Don’t be a whiner! Whining when you don’t get your way is childish, annoying and is about as bad as pressuring someone to do something they don’t want to do. You also shouldn’t be in a relationship with a person just to spill your own problems onto them but not care about their problems too.

My boyfriend and I did long distance for 2 school years and we made it work! FaceTime was honestly the greatest blessing and planning trips to see each other at LEAST once a month made it easier. My husband and I got married 7 months ago. We dated for 3 years and were engaged for a year and a half. We started out dating at college for the first year, and we were long distance during our last 2 years of dating and the full time of our engagement. Long distance is not fun but so worth it with the right person! The best advice I have is communication and setting aside time to connect with each other whether by text, phone call, or FaceTime when you can't be together in person. Communication is key. Also, if an argument or bad feeling does come up, don't settle it completely through text message. Talk it out over the phone to keep messages from being perceived differently than how they are intended while emotions are high.

My boyfriend an I do long distance every time we go back home from college and the best thing really is communication! Netflix dates (pick a show/movie to watch and hit the play button at the same time while on FaceTime) make you feel like you’re right there with them so they are always really fun! Totally right there with you when you say you fly out and stay for two weeks every so often (seven days is not always enough)! Long distance is hard but that moment when you get to see them after so long, is a moment like no other! Long distance will make your relationship stronger! (p.s. you too look so cute together, absolutely in aweeee)

I think a long distance relationship is amazing! Long distance relationships have better communication with each other in my opinion. I did a long distance relationship and have now been married 9 years to him. The best part is we communicate so well since that's all we did in the beginning. So happy for you and Brooks

I’ve been in a long distance relationship for a while (he lives in Chicago and I live in Birmingham AL) and we have a very healthy relationship! It sounds hard, but it’s very doable, and I wouldn’t change the experience for anything. The best thing is to be intentional with the time you have together and always finding creative and meaningful ways to communicate and show your love when you’re not together. ♥️
