Such an energized performance! Did anyone else notice the broken bow hair at the end? This is very relatable.

Thank you! One stationary camera, allowing us to focus on the music and the musicians. Beautiful simplicity.

The production crew must been having conniption fits over that one. Yeah! Perfect venue for a quartet. Thanks for pointing it out.

Wow -- when the playing is this solid and clean it becomes a whole new piece. Congratulations. The viola is terrific -- that also makes a huge difference.

Isn't she brilliant? 4:20 to the end felt like a duet between the 1st violin and the viola.

You're going to have to stop doing this to me, Dover Quartet! What an amazing performance! There's only so much I can take. Only joking. 😁I could take this all day long. Thank you, Brooklyn Classical, for another superb upload! [Could we have the gorgeous second movement as well, please? I’m sure it would melt my heart.]

Bravissimo! Wonderful rendition of this epic movement! Brings back very happy memories of when my family string quartet performed this at a competition years ago. We had practised it fairly slowly for accuracy, but on the night of the competition, my father led us in much faster than we'd ever played it before... practically double time and we just had to follow him!! Performing it suddenly so much faster was absolutely exhilarating.. especially when we unexpectedly won!!!

Beautiful! Curious what are the devices on the floor and how are they being used during the performance?
@sdbryan2 Жыл бұрын
In case you still wonder those are wireless devices (bluetooth protocol) that allow musicians to “turn the page” of a musical score that is displayed on a tablet like the iPad by tapping the peddle with your foot so you can use both hands all the time for playing music.

Unsure if this is normal within a quintet, but the cellist is watching the other players, while they are only reading the sheet music. Is there a reason for this?
@realdanielshock2 жыл бұрын
Its for non-verbal communication, which is an important aspect of ensemble playing, the other members do it too
@sdbryan2 Жыл бұрын
They were among the eight musicians performing the Mendelssohn octet at the conclusion of the Arizona Friends of Chamber Music festival a few years ago. A friend at that performance claimed that he watched Camden (the cellist) who must have the entire piece memorized as he never looked at his part once. It is possible he always memorizes his part.
