I have owned English bulldogs for 22 years. Let me first say that I couldn't live without one. But I disagree with the description of the breed. They are extremely stubborn. They require very high maintenance. More so than people know. If you do not provide proper maintenance it will cost you a fortune. The English Bull is a one of a kind breed, worth it all, but you will have to spend a lot of time and money. That being said, know what your getting into and you will not be disappointed!!!!!

Spot on. I got my first bulldog in 1975 when I was a young U.S.Marine. Chewie, my 7th bulldog is a 7 month old puppy. She thinks she invented stubbornness.

I agree, Buddy my bully, had to have an op to remove excess skin from his inner eyelids, cost me $200 just for the anaesthetic and then another $400 I think it was for the op, not cheap, that was going back about 20 or so years maybe more, but he was beautiful. I'd hate to think what the vet bills are today for em.

Patricia Hitz ...I love my Bulldog, she is just the sweetest, most kind dog...yes, my girl is stubborn. They don’t move when they don’t want to...with that said mine is super low maintenance yet I acknowledge she may be an exception to the breed so I definitely don’t doubt what you say...she’s been very light on the wallet 🤞 at least to this point

While cute I really hope they're banned from breeding. They suffer so much to simply survive. A healthy breed/dog should not have so much maintenance to simply be able to live comfortably. Even though I think most people's hearts are in the right place they should do their research regarding why these poor dogs are like they are and stop supporting the breeding of these poor animals.

My bulldog's name is Moops and he's the greatest. Sleeps all day until we get home then he's super hyper. Yes, owning one costs money spent at the vet but they're worth every penny!

I have a bulldog and him and my pitbull (she doesn't like any other dogs) both have fights. BigBoy (my English Bulldog) does not back down from a fight. I hate when she starts up with him because he is so loveable but my pitbull is jealous that he gets so much attention. The bulldog is so loveable and so friendly, I could not live without him.

They are easy to care for if you keep up on their care daily and keep the routine. Let it slip then you have issues. I have 3 and I have no issues.

siralex1972 no unplanned vet visits. My 3 are perfectly healthy. No allergies. They do require daily care but once you get into doing it daily, it’s easy. Only way it gets hard is if you let it go then you are walking into issues. I have no issues caring for my bulldogs. And most that have them will agree. Best advice I can offer is, quality isn’t cheap and cheap isn’t quality. Spend 1500 for a bulldog, you’ll make up the difference in vet costs.

I have aa bulldog and he is 7 yrs old now. And he has never shaked his head. I took him to the vet and they said that bulldogs have tremors. they said that is doesn't hurt them. Do you know any thing on that

Those are head tremors. Very common in the breed. Give honey or peanut butter and distract them. It don’t hurt them.

I'm looking to get one but I do daily 6hr shifts and is most likely to be away 7-8hrs a day n I do a night shift once every 5 days...just wondering if it'll be alright to leave her alone during these times

the dog'll be fine. It'll sleep most of the time. Get a puppy and train, and the dog eventually will know no different! I work and like most ppl, am away from home 10 hours a day. I get home, my bully is excited and then after a walk, she goes back to sleep!

prahalad adharsh They are obedient but stubborn. Mine never barks at others but he argues with me 😑. So inside the house he barks AT ME when I ask it to do something to do it doesn’t want to, or when he’s upset I didn’t give into something he wanted etc. You can train them to be quieter, mine is spoilt. Other than that he is extremely gentle with others and friendly.

45 to 55 pounds!? I have a smaller bulldog and that nugget is 65 and his bulldog friend is 80. And are they stubborn? Hahahaha. Junior doesn't do a thing he doesnt want to. Oh, and for anyone wanting a bulldog. They are incredibly expensive. You'll spend 1000 easily a year. Also, they pass gas like it's their national pastime.

Mine sheds non stop , no matter how often she is brushed. Everytime you pet her it makes tumble weed like balls of hair . And the hairs are strong they stick into everything and do not come out easily. I've had to vaccuum my house guests pants on many occasions.
