Shawn Lancaster It’s meant to be like a painting canvas. So whatever trails you run on pretty much paints your shoe and tells a story. At least that’s what I read. Which pretty much whatever trail shoe you run in will get trashed. So why not have it tell a story?

Great review Mary Beth. I feel like trail shoes are an afterthought for most mainstream shoe companies. I hated hated hated the cascadia from last year. I loved that you talked about the outsole, which was my biggest gripe with the cascadia, because running in South Texas where most of the trails are super technical and rocky is a totally different experience than the PNW. I never trusted my footing with the cascadia's outsole. But this shoe looks intriguing. Perhaps I'll give Brooks another go but I remain skeptical.

Yeah, not all trails are created equal. This shoe is really fun but I would still go for something more cushioned with bigger lugs for a longer or more technical trail run.

grear review mary beth ,thank you ...this old buzzard is rockin' the trails in the nb hierro v5 nowadays ..bit heavy and clunky but oh so comfy and supportive for my ancient pins ...mighty vibram outsole as well but i pared away the heel extension with a box cutter...memo to brooks ...swap out the logo/flash on the hyperion and catamount and you have 2 pairs of better lookin' shoes aesthetically imo...keep up the great work mary beth n jami ...

Good review ! Its a trailshoe I'm gonna try, but yes Brooks needs a version with more agressive lugs as well. I also have a high instep, so happy to hear that this shoe works for that.

I think this kind of shoe would be great for trails here in Southern Michigan, which are pretty much devoid of rocks and are mostly dirt/grass and without huge elevation gain/loss (some short punchy climbs on occasion). I’ve been wearing Hoka Speedgoat 3’s and they honestly are overbuilt for the trails around here.

I’ve run in Skechers and I have the Hyperion Tempo and the midsoles feel totally different. I way prefer this Brooks midsole

@@levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183 Which Skechers models did you run in? Just curious as I have the Razor 3, TRL, GR 8 hyper, Go Meb Hyper and the Brooks Hyperion Tempo. Razor 3 (other than the fit being a little restrictive) is a far better shoe that the Tempo. Guess we are lucky to have so many great shoes to choose from!

I've always been anti-guinea pig and usually get the 2nd iteration of new shoes. I have been crazy interested in this shoe for a while and expected a version 2 by the fall of this year and it still hasn't shown up. :(
