Holy smokes! That's gotta be the first Ghost 14 video on KZbin so very well done! The idea of DNA Loft thru the entire midsole almost convinced me to hold off on a new pair of shoes until these drop in July. However, since I already have a pair of Beacon 3s on the way I guess I'll just have to put the Ghost 14s on my Christmas list. Great review as always and I look forward to more awesome content from you guys!

Great review -thanks! Very disappointed that they went to the flat lace. The round lace on the Ghost 13 is my absolute favorite and I will buy the 13's again for this reason alone. Plus I'll save $25! : )

No question this is the best 'comparison' video I have ever seen. GREAT JOB. My wife uses the Ghost and after watching this, got some 14's on the Cyber Monday sales. Now if only you would do one for me.., the Brooks Adrenaline 21 (which I love) vs 22. Keep up the great work.

Hey Glenn, Thanks for your kind words, and I trust your wife enjoys her Ghost 14s. Now to answer your Question. I have one more run to do in the Adrenaline GTS 22 (which is a progressive run) and ill be shooting the review next week. Note: took me three runs in the new 22s to warm to them. This being said the shoe is gearing more towards consistency with under foot experience. Cant fault the stability, its just the cushioning (initially) that I needed to figure out. Happy Running, Josh.

I loved the Ghost 13 and 14, still wearing 14s today in 2024 after 2 years, with several heavily discounted pairs waiting on the shelf to be worn for at least another 2 years.

Thank you for the review, I love my Ghost 12s, they are the best fitting shoes I've ever worn, I'm currently on my second pair. I'm very glad to see they've used a full DNA loft midsole, they should now be better suited for long runs. You've said though that the stack height is 24mm/12mm, isn't this too low? A 34mm/22mm seems more reasonable to me. Thanks.

The Ghost feels great underfoot. But no matter what I did the 13 kept hurting me around the ankle bone. Gave up in the end.

I had the Ghost 12 and they were great. Zero wear on the inside after 1000kms (I know, too many km for one pair). I bought the Ghost 13 and after 78km small bits came off the outside of the sole and after 250km the heel on the right foot is starting to wear on the inside. I have been injured for a while after buying them so I missed out on the 90 day return policy before they started wearing on the inside. I would go back to the Ghost 12 if I found a pair, but would not recommend the 13 due to the amount of wear on them.

Great Feedback Chris. Thinking about the intricate design changes from 12 to 13 and then from 13 to 14.... I feel the midsole, will perform more like the 12 than the 13. The 14 has a consistent feel under the foot. The 12 had the DNA Loft cushioning placed under the heel only, however, the 13 they transitioned the loft up the lateral side of the midsole, which created a softer transition for rigid "high arches". (My subjective opinion) I do think the 13 engineering design was a strategic move as the Glycerin 18 lost some flexibility through the forefoot (as Brooks designed a more stable version) so to keep runners in their brand, they could move to the ghost 13 to offer more flex through the forefoot (targeting a similar runner who had used Glycerin 16s and 17s). With the 14 design in mind, I think it runs more like the 12 than the 13 now. But this being said, the 14 for heel strikers is a little firmer under the foot initially than the 12 but will soften very quickly after some miles in them. Happy Running, Josh

My issue with the 13s, (in a 12 wide) is that the upper is very tight across the top of the arch, this exacerbates my existing extensor tendonitis, even lacing them with laces going just up the sides of the shoe, with nothing across the top of the foot, the sheer lack of upper material keeps them tight against the top of my foot. And the top of my foot is actually exposed between the lace holes and the edge of the tongue as the amount of material across the top of the shoe is simply inadequate, especially for a high arch wide foot. This has caused me to be unable to run for over a month due to extensive pain due to extensor tendonitis. My only other issue is one that all manufacturers have, I understand that Brooks wants to make the outside look good and so they put the seams inside the shoe, but where the tongue attaches to the front of the upper it creates an absolutely painful line across the top of the foot, once again due to the lack of material on the upper when you have high arches and a wide foot. I have taken to immediately cutting the stitching in my shoes where the tongue is attached and reattaching it to the outside of the shoe, of course now the stitch shows, but I do not care what my shoes look like, I want them comfortable because I would rather be healthy with ugly shoes, than unable to run and unhealthy with pretty shoes. I think this could easily be mitigated with a slight design change that would allow the tongue connection to be between the layers of the upper and have it biased to the top of the shoes so that it does not create a pressure point across the top of the foot. And then it would still look good and be comfortable. I have not yet tried this with my Brooks shoes, they just cost too much lol. But I have a pair of 14s on their way to me tomorrow, so I may try that with the 13s. For their part, Brooks has been absolutely amazing and 100% responsive in taking care of any issue I have ever had, from general questions to more in-depth multipart issues, they have never failed me and I am super happy to be running with them. And thank you for these in-depth reviews, they are immensely helpful.

Hey "Best Little Studio", This feedback and perspective is excellent. While I totally get it, and understand it can be frustrating at times when cosmetics can (and does) get in the way of function. I can guarantee brands are listening and endeavoring to ensure their shoes are functional and comfortable while still performing. We are in a running shoe boom at present, and there are so many options in the market. Finding a shoe that works can be challenging. Its great to hear you have had a positive experience with Brooks. Having worked in this industry for over 17 years, I can't fault Brooks as a brand to work with. Extremely professional. They are a Running shoe brand and a large portion of their revenue gets fed straight back into R&D. You don't see Brooks throwing cash into marketing campaigns or sponsoring dozens of global athletes (they do have a few), but they are so driven by product and performance, and ensuring their shoes are accessible (multiple widths, differing supports and cushioning categories). Please keep us posted with your Ghost 14s. I would be very keen to hear how they go for you. Happy Running, Josh and The Sportitude Team.

I have a pair of 13s that I like a lot. I was just about to purchase a second pair in case Pair 1 gets wet, and ran across the 14s. If I like the 13s, should I just stick with them? If I like the 13s, is there a chance I won't like the 14s?
@SportitudeAus
@SportitudeAus 3 жыл бұрын
Always a small chance a runner doesn't like the new model, and even with minor changes from the Ghost 13 to 14. There a ways brands adjust and control change. Looking at key features of a running shoe, the weight, density of cushioning, stack height and drop as well as the configuration of an upper. With this in mind the changes have come in the upper and a slightly (literally mean slight) change in the density of foam, with the shoe being a little firmer under foot for the first few km's. Brooks are what I would call a consistent almost risk adverse company, in the sense that significant change must come with validation in the Lab with hard evidence to back it up. For example Adrenaline GTS 18 to 19. Massive change with the execution of support. But the brand hasn't looked back and only gone from strength to strength. So what I am trying to say is (in a long reply) yes there is always a small change you will not a nee model, but with Brooks these conversations are usually extremely rare. You might even like the 14s more?? Merry Christmas and Happy Running, Josh

What are the real alternatives to the ghost .I'm a fan of them just bought my 4th pair but would still like to know?
@SportitudeAus
@SportitudeAus 3 жыл бұрын
Great Q: in no particular order: three shoes that I would throw up in the same discussion. Asics Cumulus 23, New Balance 880v11 and the Mizuno Wave Rider 25. As the Ghost is 12mm heel to toe G, the Saucony Ride would be another, but too much variance for someone like yourself coming fro 4 pairs of Ghost. 880v11 is softer more protective Cumulus 23 is slightly closer to ground, a more connected feel v Ghost Rider 25 in my opinion is the closest comparison to Ghost 14. On tech information and also feel and performance. All in all the Ghost is still so hard to beat, but if you are looking for an alternative to compare. Try any of the above. You may just end up liking the Ghost more. Thanks for watching and sending through your questions. Regards, Josh at Sportitude. Happy Running!!

Better than the endorphin speed 2?
@SportitudeAus
@SportitudeAus 2 жыл бұрын
Endorphin Speed 2 is a phenomenal shoe, but sits in a different category to the Ghost Franchise. Ghost has more support across the midsole and upper and the Endorphin Speed is built for "speed", which takes away support to engineer a lighter frame. If you are a Saucony advocate or keen on the brand and looking for a similar shoe to the Ghost. Check out the Ride 15 and Triumph 19. Honest and reliable neutral shoes.

Thank you for the review. Sounds like they turned the Ghost into a Glycerine. How do they differ now?
@SportitudeAus
@SportitudeAus 3 жыл бұрын
Agree, It looks like that is the case. The Ghost still on a 12mm HG when the Glycerin is 10mm. I would still say the Ghost is more stable under the foot, with the additional thickness of the rubber and how Brooks has engineered the flex grooves underneath also. With the Glycerin 20 coming through in early 2022, I can confirm there are some huge changes with the midsole technology, so there will be clear segmentation in the market for both shoes again. I hope this helps. Happy Running, Josh
