Are the 23s just for pronation? I was told that the 22s had "bumper" strips both sides for pronation and supination which only came into play if you're tired and losing your form a bit. The 23s look like they have that bumper strip on both sides too.

The 21 is way roomier in the forefoot at exactly the same size. Same goes for the ankle. I don't know what shoes you've tried but there it is.

This shoe definitely promotes forefoot striking and leans you forward. It's not a soft shoe, probably better for tempo/threshold runs. It also comes up large by 1/2 size so size down when buying.

Current sale shows the GTS 22 at half the cost of the GTS 23 (both on sale). I have the GTS 23 and I'm happy with it, but it's growing old. Thinking that with these marginal improvements the GTS 23 osn't worth the current 2X the cost for me. Especially with shoes who wear pretty quickly. I'm using these shoes mainly for sportive walking, mixing it with just a little jogging.

I have a pair of Hokas that I have worn out now and I need to purchase a new pair. However, I cannot find a colour I like!! I find some of them are just such an ugly colour. I am an older lady and I love bright colours not wishy washy colours. Could you please so something about brightening some up. I have the Bondi 8 W ones and they are the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. From the moment I put them I have not had one bit of trouble with the fit and feel of them. I am going to have to buy a pair desperately as I do not want to change my shoe & they are the best....but, when paying a good amount for a shoe I really would like a nice bright colour. I am a ParkRunner, 5 years now and am 73yrs.

The 23 has a slightly looser toe box. This could be a combination of the heel foam and softer material. If you sized up in the 22 you probably won't have to with the 23.

In 2024 I'm enjoying new old stock Glycerin 18s and have some 19s waiting. The 18s did have a break-in period of perhaps a week of light usage but have been excellent since. The 19s fit looser at the heel but not the toe, and seemed to break-in by the second wear. Overall the 18s seems to be a better fit, but the 19s are still OK.
@erbigimbi99034 ай бұрын
I bought the 18 on special via a friend's advice, and was instantly happy, I loved the soft top, I bought the 20 recently, the soft top does not extend past my big toe like the 18, and that toenail is still a bit sensitive to pressure after an injury. So I'm sticking with the 18s for a while still. I also noticed how stable my walking is, cos in my old shoes my foot would find any deviation in the level of the pavement and turn my ankle. This does not happen with the 18. 100% happy.

Do you know how different the cloudflyer and cloudflyer wide are? Accidentally bought wide instead of norn and I don't know if I should be exchanging them with the online shop. Thanks!
@SportitudeAus5 ай бұрын
Thanks for reaching out! In general, the difference in widths between a Standard width and a Wide width is approximately 1.2cm (or a bit less than half an inch). In some brands and models, this can be as large as 1.5cm (or a bit over half an inch). The extra width provides more room in the forefoot and midfoot areas, which can be beneficial if you have a wider foot or prefer a bit more space for comfort. However, if you have a narrower foot and typically wear Standard-width running shoes, then you may find the Wide to be too roomy. Best thing to do in your situation is try the shoes on for fit and comfort indoors where you won't mark or damage the outsole and keep the shoes in new condition. That way if you find them too roomy, you can return them for an exchange to Standard width.

You seem to be conflating zero drop with thin soles. I’m looking for a zero shoe that also provides foot protection (not as a transition shoe to thin-soled shoes). There’s zero drop between your heel and your forefoot when you’re not wearing shoes. That’s how we have evolved as a species. Shoes with a heel to forefoot drop and unnatural but we’ve got used to them because that’s what we’ve most all our lives. Switching to a zero drop shoe was what (after trying numerous suggested remedies) finally enabled me to get rid of my plantar fasciitis. Once you get used to them (not long in my case) they are much more comfortable than shoes with a significant heel to forefoot drop.
@TimJohnson-x1o5 ай бұрын
This is one scenario where it does actually make sense if you have plantar then yes you should use zero drop shoes. a lot of the other claims are kind bunk but for that specific issue it does 100% make sense. because you want to take pressure off the ball of the foot. The Via Olympus in this video isn't very comfortable but the version 2 is very comfortable. only issue is they made it way uglier and gave it even more of a rocker. Altra is a mess. All of their products come with a lot of compromises. It's honestly hard to suggest them, but there aint many other choices on the market right now for shoes that are zero drop but also have cushioning like a regular running shoe. However, I'd suggest stuff like NB over Altra for most folks. Just make sure they actually fit in length and width. NB has many models with very low drop such as the More V4 shown in this video. But that thing is even clunkier than the Altra shown in the video. It's an absolute boat. but otherwise a really good shoe. If you're gonna get an altra, I'd suggest trying the Esclante 4, Torin likely in wide which means either an ugly light gray or ugly blue. or the Via olympus 2 which is the new version of the boat that's in this video. All the other models have too many issues and or have narrow lasts. Altra isn't what it used to be. Think of those 3 models as a spectrum from minimal to maximal and figure out what you need. For an issue like plantar I'd suggest the Torin above the other 2. but the torin is narrower than the other 2 and only comes in a wide size in 2 ugly colors. So there really is no winning. Altra has also been plagued by serious durability issues for a while now so don't expect them to last very long. and it's not like they're cheap. Via Olympus 2 after tax will cost you nearly $180. The cheapest one will cost you about $140 after tax. Is it worth it? Probably not but it doesn't hurt to try it once.

Bought the CloudEclipse last fall, but could not get that shoe to work for me. Ended up using my old CloudMonster1 and Surfer instad. I see that the Eclipse get so much good reviews around KZbin. So it must be something with the way I run. The Hyper was what I was hoping the Eclipse was. My go to shoe at close to every training session. This summer I can only bring one pair of shoes with me on the hollidays, and it`s not doubt in will be the CloudMonster Hyper.

In your opinion without being biased, would you still choose Hoka over another brand? Or is there a brand better than Hoka
@SportitudeAus6 ай бұрын
Hey @MrClemmo13 This is a great Q! As its pretty well assumed, Hoka owns the high stack, cushioned category and has done for the past decade. When the industry started to see the cut through they had on market share, all other brands took notice and went straight to the design table to work their own version(s) of this evolutionary category. While Hoka is still growing as a brand, there are a lot of options now from their competitors speaking to the market looking for cushioned, high stack shoes with a metarocker. You are spoilt for choice and it does come down to fit, feel and function. Brands are all competiting for the attention of the runner/athlete with the wallet. Fair to say Nike owned the carbon plate performance shoe category for 2-3 years before others started to catch up.... They still dominate this space, but the other brands have some seriously good shoes to fit the needs and requirements within this category. I take the same approach with what Hoka had done to the market in the early 2010's. Total disruptors, and they as a brand have changed the landscape. Its not to say we wouldn't be here now without Hoka, but industry leaders tend to be game changes. That is exactly what Hoka is!! Thanks for the comments. Do you have a favourite Hoka shoe? Mine was the Clifton 6!! Regards, Josh

Im a heavy pronator and wear orthotics, i only use them for walking daily, the gel kayano 28s caused me issues in my joints on my little toes and down that side, and NB 860 same year was a disaster, soft heal counter that most reviews said cracked, and I cracked mine, and the guard rail system in the brooks addiction walker make my knees ache, had worn the old support system for 20+ years. I have the saucony omni walker for work and leisure but they need build up on inside of the heels. Havent tried anything else last 2yrs, appears the support and stability has gone too soft. Any suggestions??

If both are available, lean on the 15 for walking. 16 is remarkable under foot, and certainly more dialed for running.

I am used to running in 1080s and then I went to Novoblast 4s this year. When that eventually dies, at 400 miles with those and still going strong sort of, I want to try these as a more ground effect. I've built up my mileage and find the more I run, the less I want high stacks of cushion. This seems a good option for that. At least to rotate with my Novoblast 4s
