The Film ''Imitation of life'' is a 'What Price Fame story about Lora Meredith an aspiring thirty something single mum (Played by Lana Turner) who wants to be the greatest actress in the world (not aiming high) she becomes friends with another Single Mum Annie Johnson (Played here by Juanita Moore the fourth African American to be nominated for an Academy Award) , an African American with a white daughter, Sarah Jane (Susan Kohner) who also becomes friends to Lora's Daughter Susie (Sandra Dee)
Im not sure if the moral of the story is..''Be careful what you wish for in your youth as you will surly get it in middle age'' but as a film its worth a look, for a time when civil rights were about to come to the surface and Kennedy was about to be president it was contemporary of its subject matter even as a remake of a much older film , directed by Douglas Sirk ,the godfather of the Modern Soap Opera, and the inspiration of filmmakers such as Todd Haines with 'Far from Heaven'.
The great Camp Cinema Giant John Waters regards this amongst his very favorite films,
(if you've scene that the Von Tussle household you'll know what im talking about)
I thought this would mix well with the one hit wonder bopping track by Bros as its a film about reaching for fame with both hands.
