Toots Thielemans was, of course, first and foremost known as a phenomenal performer. But he was also the composer of more than 250 compositions. Many of the pieces originated in the 1950s, when he was contracted by the then national public radio monthly to compose new works for the various musical groups of the public radio. Many works have since been forgotten and deserve to be brought back to light. With an occasional band around Bram De Looze and a fantastic line-up (Teun Verbruggen, Yannick Peeters and Philippe Thuriot!), these compositions were the inspiration for Toots deconstructed.
Line-up
Bram De Looze: piano
Teun Verbruggen: drums
Yannick Peeters: double bass
Philippe Thuriot: accordion, harmonica
