This time we will take you to the mysterious mansion of the former Fortuna family, which is located on top of a snow-covered mountain and is reached by an endless winding road.
Since the beginning of the 1900s the Fortuna family used to call this house their home, they were an extremely influential family in the American real estate business and held properties all over the continental USA.
Gladys was the only descendant of the Fortuna Family and naturally inherited the wondrous White Mountain Mansion and all the wealth his family accumulated over their successful past.
He met a fine lady named Sheila, and they fell in love at first sight and got married only a short time later, subsequently, she moved into the white mansion with Gladys, and sometime later they got their one and only child Olivia, Gladys was not very interested in real estate and decided to start a new company in the trade of Rare Objects together with his wife Sheila, they would do business all over the USA in the following decades and became experts in their field.
Gladys and Sheila seemed like the perfect couple. They were loved by their neighborhood and did everything they could to help society. But unfortunately, they didn't get to enjoy their old days. Gladys died in her early 70s, and Sheila died of Breast Cancer a few years later, in the year 2000.
Olivia having inherited their massive fortune and having been set up for a life of luxury seemingly disappeared from planet earth, nobody knows her whereabouts and nothing has been done with the mansion ever since her passing.
Let us try today to uncover the mysteries that surround the mansion and give you one last glimpse of its glory!

I researched this family because I found this video interesting - plus Gladys is a female name so I knew that Gladys couldn't be the husband. So it turns out that Gladys was the mom, and Sheila is her daughter. Gladys' husband was Sherman and he died in 1978 in their home state of Florida. Gladys died in Texas in 2010, not 2000. She was 88 or 89 when she died. She may have abandoned the property in 2000 but she didn't die until 2010 in Texas, where she lived with her daughter Sheila. It appears Sheila is still alive and would be 79-80 years of age now. It appears Gladys bought this home in 1982. In 2010, it looks like Sheila legally took over the ownership. So given her advanced age, and the fact that she lives far away in Texas, she probably doesn't have the means or the time to care for this home. It's a shame because the house doesn't appear too far gone. It probably could be restored if Sheila just sold it to the right people. The home was built in 1815 and survived for so long, only to be forgotten and neglected. It's a shame.

I just found that Sheila also has passed away in early 2022. Her estate is currently in probate court in Texas. I can't view the court documents - because I would have to make an account online and give them my address and I really don't want to do that. The petitioning parties appear to not be heirs. So if Olivia or this Tammy (the little girl in the pics) was her daughter(s), she or they are most likely deceased. This is very intriguing. For a supposedly once prominent family, there is literally no evidence online of their existence in New York.

I live in Hungary.😊 It is incomprehensible to me that such houses, furnished, are left to rot. Maybe no one really wants to live there, but why leave all those beautiful objects behind? Couldn't the owner have given it away to someone in the area? you cant save all the homes. There are other factors to consider in the cases. You have to admit though that abandoned homes or property, its time standing still. We have no many modern homes that just lack any character today. So many people try to erase history that the wrong person could also take this home and renovate it to look unrecognizable. Its a time capsule unless restored to its appearance of its day.

Your in my neck of the woods..yes I've heard of them..my grandparents were in real estate and they built many homes. They knew them. My great grandparents and grandparents very well off and built many homes in upstate NY. And owed many tenements also. My family also owned shoe stores. I think sometimes the "urban "explorers" set up some rooms like put clothing laid on beds, set a table, make beds etc. I've seen some of them clean up a bit. Also sometimes in these homes there have been trespassers and people who may have a party or stay in them over the years. At times you will see a soda can, cigarette butts, alcohol bottles, take out wrappers, cards and games on tables etc. That seem out of place. But i do agree with you, it's a shame collectibles and beautiful items are left to rot. Not to mention photos and family history. I think maybe sometime is a legal issue that held up the estates or there was no will and no relatives or relatives just don't know it's there. I always wonder who pays the power bill when it still works? Maybe a lawyers office who is in charge of the estate or the power company just hasn't gotten to it. More than likely a bank owns it and they just don't mind their forclosures enough to get around to it.

The room with the double ceiling has the original plaster ceiling with what we Americans usually call Drywall, Sheetrock, or Gypboard on top of the plaster one. Its not wood. The Drywall is made of two very thin sheets of heavy duty paper with a thicker gypsum layer sandwiched between the paper. It usually comes in 4 ft × 8 ft sheets. This is often done when the plaster ceiling begins to deteriorate. It is done this way in order to avoid removing the plaster to save cost. Love your videos!

sometimes when i get to see a home like this in province there are so many hidden valuables that are literally lost in time so, sometimes when i know for sure that its lost to nature i grab some valuables not for selling sometime not even worth like old licence plates, but things like mechanical watches, books, old porcelain figures i take sometimes a photo of the owner who is long gone... its not with the intention of robbing or loot. its more like preservation and saving old lost memories who was someone's life before before nature takes whats hers literally places where one knows "nobody is coming home anymore..." idk what to think about it... an i try not to i just apreciate and thank that i could rescue the thing

Lesley and Danny tell us creative stories of what we see. I do that same thing. Some are factual; some are good guesses; some are way off (funny later when we find out what it is or already know). Such a lovely home. I wish such places could be kept intact to preserve history with tours or teaching. Some of the construction is building onto the home. Outside washing areas were built around to the point you might see outside siding in the middle of the home!

My parents weren’t rich. My dad was a ranch foreman but my mom (a stay at home mom) loved music and paid for piano lessons for both me and my older sister. We had an old but well tuned upright piano in our home. It was given to us by the elementary school we attended when they bought a new one. I wish my mom had taken lesson herself. She’d have loved it & I’d have loved that for her.

They were called steamer trunks, and were used when they traveled by ship. I think the daughter and her family lived there for awhile after her death.

Urbex and Chill toured this house 3 years ago. It was still in a decent condition. Much of the features of the house have been stolen. The fireplace in Sheila’s dressing room was stolen and most of the figurines were stolen too.

I think when you went through the double door that may have been the original house and the rest was added after some time . Way the ceiling was so low

Also that bathroom with the raised foot was probably done after the house was built. Probably the floor was raised to install the necessary plumbing.

Lovely explore guys. Thx. Enjoyed it. Such a lovely home but geez for a family of just 3 person....too much work for me if I had it. I'm not surprise much anymore how members of family leave things behind. They start their own lives, choose their own materialistic styles. Who says they didn't take with them the things they themselves cherished & cared little for the things we see that we hold dear to ourselves as viewers. Beautiful home it was at one time. Sad it's decaying but the land (property) is where the big coin is.

The white gloves were "cultural"... It was a very popular accessory in the 1950s to probably the late 1960s... But I can see why you would think it was worn to examine antiques as this is the common use of fabric gloves. I have several sets of gloves from when my mother was younger as well as the fancy hats.
