This was only a small part of the Prince Tribute that night, but this tribute was so important to the African American community because MTV f'ed up the Prince Tribute with Madonna (like they did Michael's by adding Madonna to basically talk more about herself). And with that horrible excuse of a tribute to musical royalty like our beloved Prince, BET (whose music awards are held after the MTV ones) responded right after the MTV Awards Prince Tribute with 6 words that spoke for the entire African American community... "Don't worry Prince we got you". Shade that Prince would have appreciated (because he was known for throwing shade). The African American community as a whole pretty much told MTV, "if you ain't going to do right by our icons and legends, leave it alone, just send a card of condolence, some flowers, and call it a day"
