You get the Potato A LOT! Thanks for explaining the synergy between burning and structures. I always considered the Taser a lesser weapon but it looks like the right tool for the job. Would love to see how Flaming Brass Knuckles would do in a similar build. Well done!

I struggled A LOT with figuring out how to complete Mage on D5, even after trying to follow some of the guides on Steam, but the simplicity of your explanations of your choices and priorities had me understand how to build the mage somewhat properly and I managed to complete it on my second try, right after watching the video! :D It would have been the first, but I, of course, ran the wrong way when trying to dodge the two final bosses attacks, and ended up in a horde in the corner. xD I obviously subscribed right away and about to watch another guide on one of the other characters I struggle with. @@Cephalopocalypse I have to thank you again for your guides, because I managed to win with Glutton D5 on my first try (I thought I wouldn't because I did loads of mistakes in that run haha) after watching your guide on that one! :D I tried the Lucky one too, but I kept having such bad luck (pun intended) in my rng shops it was ridiculous, as well as practise my dodging and kiting to manage that one better, so I went with Glutton instead and, voilà, I got that win before I quit the game for the evening. :) Again, thank you for your awesome guides on Brotato that helps an idiot like me understand the mechanics better and lastly, your humour in your commentary is hilarious btw! ;D

In my opinion, I think flamethrower works better than wand. Thank you for the video I am new to brotato and this has helped me understand the game better.

Idk if anyone mentioned this, but sausage adds +1 elemental dmg per sasuage to burn dmg if the weapon apready applies burn

Elemental is pretty gimpy compared to other damage types. Burn damage needs to be changed to allow it to stack.

After wave 1 with taser, I rerolled until I was out of money looking for 1. I'm consistently having issues getting them. What is up?

as you might've guessed, luck is a bit of an illusion. just about every item behind the scenes has tags associated with it, and if you gather more and more of one type of item then that type of item has a boosted chance of appearing. like, if you grabbed 3 engineering items, then you'd have slightly boosted odds of continuing to find more engineering items. this applies to your weapon and even your character too. play the mage, use an elemental weapon, and you'll have a noticably higher chance to find elemental items right off the bat. use ghost items, you'll find more ghost items. stuff like that. but perhaps the most major is the same-weapon bonus. if you have two or more of a kind of a single weapon, then you get a massive bonus towards finding more of that weapon. get two tasers, and basically half of all future weapons might be tasers. that bonus is part of the reason why its so important to get 6 weapons right off the bat; the more you find early the quicker you can keep finding more and snowball up into levels. but of course, you don't START with two. it can be pretty annoying finding that second one; especially if you have an awkward start or you don't plan on building into your chosen starting weapon. if you reroll like 5 times in shop one and don't get anything good, just reset at that point. but all those aforementioned things should mean its pretty easy to get 2-3 weapons in your first shop, with a 3rd or 4th locked in for shop 2. and then, it shouldn't be too unlikely to have 4 or even 5 going into wave 3. you shouldn't buy pretty much any passive items, no matter how juicy they may be. if you find one or two good passives, just lock them in and wait. try to get good weapons first.

You're probably right! I ignored the obliterator since it doesn't use elemental damage, but it would still have been a bit higher dps than one of the tasers at that point, and could apply burning across the map with its pierce. Good catch!

Mage is my favourite class! I just love a wizard in any game. I'm trying out a new strategy with relatively good success (2/3 so far on Danger 5): Start with TORCHES and pick up any and every elemental weapon I see. I think they're all decent and work well together. This includes Plank although that one is a bit dubious... From there the main thing is picking up speed and healing so you can move around, dodging enemies who are on fire. My loss was against Crocodile on wave 15, which is just mean.

The reason I like starting with Torch is that it has really good wave clear for the first 10 waves. Incidentally, that lost run was also the one I only found torches and tasers...

Torch sets fire to huge pods of enemies with one swing, so you can mostly avoid taking attack speed.

Fully aware that I'm trying too hard to make torch good, but I was just very surprised at how successful I've been with this strategy! Let me know if you try it out some time.

Yeah, I think Torch has some applications as a one-of to help spread fire! It's pretty weak overall, but can be useful early game especially, since the fire from it will outpace the fire from the sausage. Once you get a flamethrower it becomes pretty redundant though.

elemental stats just need a HUUUGGEEE buff. I think the DOT from fire and things like that should last indefinitely

One of the reasons it looks a little weak here is we didn't find a flamethrower - check the builds where I have one and you can really see burn damage shine!

Don't waste money rolling on the first shop when you can't afford to buy another weapon, save that for the second shop that has the last chance for guaranteed double weapons.

Because the cost of items and rolling goes up every shop, rolling and locking ends up saving you money

16:41 I slowed down the video to see what was happening, and to me it looked like the burning spread from an enemy that was already on fire at the exact moment the land mine was triggered. So I think the wiki might still be right? But I’m also a novice compared to you when it comes to this game so I don’t necessarily trust what I think I saw 🥲

I wasn't sure at the time but in later testing land mines definitely do apply fire - you can actually see it happen very clearly in this video at 26:19 on the left side of the screen. Good looking out though! :D
