My reply is very late but hold T SET + M REL and turn the power off then on while holding, should start demo mode. At least that’s how it works for my AX-12M

​@@BigEbk876 oh yeah so the ink cartridges are basically a roll of tape with ink on one side that is put on the paper when the letters hit. when the tape runs out you gotta replace it. I think compatible cartridges are still being made, last i checked they're pretty cheap on amazon
