Hi, Thanks for your good question. Yes it does have adjustable speed. The machine is set to the default speed of maximum (650 stitches per minute) for embroidery with regular embroidery thread. However, if you want to work with speciality threads, like wool embroidery thread or metallic thread, then it is advisable to set the speed to a lower setting - and this can be done on the F540E😀 It can be adjusted from 650 all the way down to 350 stitches per minute - with other settings in between too.
