Brother HL 3170 CDW laser printer belt drive cleaning. I cleaned mine and I touched it. That's right find out how well the brother HL-3170cdw printer prints after cleaning toner off of the belt drive unit.

I own one HL-3170cdw also along with an old HP1600 , I have many times cleaned the belt on my HP 1600 simply with paper wipes and a bit of alcool on wipes and voilà, works great and still works after 10 years.

I am having the same issue as well but it is on everything I print. I used compressed air yesterday and that didn't help. Today I used chlorox wipe. That didn't work either. I just ordered a new belt. The issue happened yesterday after 1 cleaned and replaced the drum units. The first time I ran it, the papperjammed and it has worked properly since

Your machine has a cleaning unit inside it that self cleans the belt off, otherwise known as the waste box. You did not need to do this. All you had to do is open and close the cover 3 times. open close whirring stop,open close whirring stop x3.

Got any tips to help glossy labels manually load better? Little alcohol on the roller helped a little but... Any tweeks?

@@Mavericksa only clean feed rollers with turpentine never use alcohol as it sends the rubber rock hard. Pull the drums and the belt out and clean the registration rollers underneath. Do not touch the cleaning rollers on the waste box.

I dont know much about printers, but i believe toner particles are really bad to inhale so im thinking that blowing it out with an air compressor is far from ideal. Also apparently you arent meant to use alcohol on the belt, which is in one of the comments.

Sometimes a little piece of paper may still be in the machine if any ripped. Inspect for that and then Make sure all the doors are latched closed.

I came across your video after needing to know what it looked like inside. Im looking to mod a laser printer and wanted your input. Could that printer possible be modified to print on a baseball bat? Maybe removing anything underneath the belt, or maybe anything in the front so the belt can print on a bat?

I have been know to have a pretty creative outside the box type of imagination and nothing is jumping to mind on a way to modify this printer to print onto a baseball bat. I lack knowledge of exactly how laser printers melt the toner to the medium to be printed on. I believe the infusers "lights" melt the toner from below the belt and the paper rides on the belt so may be difficult to set the toner do to the thickness of a baseball bat. However maybe you could....? something was coming to mind as I was writing (but not plausible enough of an idea to put in writing). Please don't let my opinion stop you from trying if you have an idea or think its possible. Please update if you figure it out!

I've found that a heat gun melts toner pretty quickly when moving over the part it sits on. I don't yet know how well small print would turn out as I'm sure the compression from the fuser helps the toner spread a little as it's melted in place. So I think it's doable. I have a laser printer torn apart now and slowly finding out how to override the switches/sensors the printer uses to track the paper's progress. Still looking for some of the sensors, hopefully I find them before I break important parts.
