Thank you so much for this BRILLIANT confidence building walk through of how to design and work a self designed garment using the knitleader. I haven’t used my machine since 1919 (😱) so I couldn’t remember - I’ve become a total novice and this has saved me many errors and given me many tips. Thank you again.

Hello June, thank you so much for this great tutorial. Could I ask you which magazine you were using for the pattern. I just got a knit leader and would like to make a jumper for my child. This looks like a good pattern to start with. Thanks again!
@JuneClark Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I can’t remember, but it was either Machine Knitting News or Machine Knitting Monthly. These magazines all have diagrams in them

Thank you for showing how to input and draw a pattern in the Knitleader from schematics. Much simpler (read, less intimidating!) than using sewing patterns for my first time effort!

Why did you set the lower scale to 5 mm? How do I know what number to put it on? thank you
@JuneClark Жыл бұрын
That corresponds to the measurement of 60 rows, if for standard gauge or 30 rows for a chunky. It is the measurement in cm

Thank you for an aIbsolutely brilliant tutorial. I have a knitleader but was too scared to begin to think how to use it. I wasn't even convinced it was meant to go with an electronic machine. I will definitely give this a go now. Quick question - could you use this to copy an existing jumper (my son has one he loves and wants me to try and knit him one very similar) - so could I measure his jumper and draw it onto the knitleader mylar sheet in the same way as you've shown?
@JuneClark3 жыл бұрын
Yes, of course. Just take the measurements or trace around

Thank you so much for this video you explained it so clearly as I am new to machine Knitting. What kind of marker did you used to draw the pattern? Also you didn't start with the ribbing why?
@JuneClark6 жыл бұрын
Washable felt tip pens and use a baby wipe to clean the sheet. I don’t put the rib on as you would still use the same number of sts and I know roughly how many rows I need. If you don’t know, from other patterns, then you would need to do another swatch in rib to work out how many rows you want for the depth of rib. Then set the row calculator to that measurement

Dear June, thanks for a clear tutorial. I also rather liked the note book/paper you use for keeping a record of your work. Could you tell me where you get hold of that particular note paper, or if it’s no longer available would be willing to share pdf of the page? Thanks Tom
@JuneClark4 жыл бұрын
It is a tension notebook. I buy them up on EBay etc. Unfortunately, I can’t share as they are still in copyright

@@JuneClark Hi June - I have looked on eBay for a tension notebook but couldn't find anything - could you share the ebay link or perhaps give the title of the item that I should look for?

@@hesjane they are not made anymore, so I just buy when I see. Any notebook will do and just record yarn and tension details in it

Hello June, I bought a brother 965i machine, with lots of extras a year ago, I have just fitted on the brother knit leader, but cannot find the rulars for it, I have another knit leader thing, not sure if it is a knit leader or another make I bought it with a standard quage Toyota it’s in the loft, could I use the rulars from my Toyota machine, if no, do you know if I could just by the brother knitleader rulars. Great video thank you.Sally.
@JuneClark4 жыл бұрын
Unlikely that the Toyota ones would work. You can sometimes pick standard gauge stitch scales on EBay

Hi June do you use tracing paper or the pattern sheet for the knit leader as I’ve never followed one before thank you
@JuneClark6 жыл бұрын
The plastic sheet that comes with the knitleader. You can use different colour felt tips for different patterns

Can you tell me if there is something that holds the paper in the knitleader please

Hi June, I'm curious about your three ring binder. What kind of information are you recording on the worksheet and how is it organized? Do you have a file you could email? I'm new at machine knitting so I'm still working out what all info I should be writing down. I would love ideas from experienced machine knitters!
@JuneClark5 жыл бұрын
I note down the yarn and colour, the machine I am knitting on, the carriage and mast tension numbers and the sts/rows to 10 cm and the sts/rows using a cm ruler for the knitleader. I make notes in the right hand column such as the garment I am knitting. It means if I only get half a garment done, I can go back a week later and pick up where is stopped
