I am wondering if it possible to have an override switch to fool the printer into thinking the rear door is shut when it is open - so a straight path can allow for a thicker card than 160gsm. Old HP Laserjets had this function as a standard - just open the door and the paper comes out the back instead of being forced 180 degrees around a roller just to send it back to the front of the printer. Just wondering if anyone else has played around with a "straight through print"

Could you tell me if this L8690CDW supports toner TN-426? Because everywhere over the internet they mention only TN-421 (1800 pages) and TN-423 (4000 pages) for this printer. TN-426 (6000 pages) is the same design just higher yield. So it fits there but i dont know if the printer FW can consume all the ink and not waste 1/4 of it because it cant recognize that its not standard yield but high yield. Thank you

I want to know this too - but it is interesting to note that the toner reset function on the 8690 referes to FOUR types of toner cartridge. The starter, normal, high yield and Ultra high yield - which I am guessing is the 426. So even if the printer doesn't recognise it, you can still just do a "reset" and make it carry on using the cartridge - which is why I am going to buy the 426 - but it would be awesome if it just realises this automatically.
