Brother Printer Unclogging Printhead

This is a video showing you how to unclog the Brother's print head with the needle and syringe.
The reason why the video is slow, is because we were using a slower memory card to record the writing speed of the high quality video. The audio is still clear and the images are still viewable.

@6CCORVETTEMAN 0 seconds ago When injecting the alcohol, the syringe was very hard to press and withdraw. I worked it this way numerous times. Still bad printing. Finally, I more forcefully injected the alcohol and then heard a "POP." I thought the black ink line had detached somewhere or the print head was now unclogged I could then easily inject and withdraw the alcohol. And, i could hear air being forced out of the print head. So, finally, after several cleaning cycles, by the machine, my black print is outstanding! I determined that the "POP" I heard was a valve or clog that was opened up.

Hey I did this but I didn't have solution, so I just used 70% isopropyl alcohol. After injecting that with a syringe with a needle, and doing 3 cleaning cycles, it gradually improved to good quality again. But RIP all the black ink I wasted doing that. I didn't see an option for nozzle vs. head cleaning.

So I pushed cleaning solution through to Brother MFC-250C printhead, I've done it and each ink passage goes all the way through to the printhead as shown by soaked paper towel placed underneath, no clogs, then ran several test prints and printhead cleanings and only got maybe a faint print from the cyan, then nothing. Is the circuitry broken or something? The printer seems to think everything is fine.

Dear Master. Help. I did the head cleaning as you showed, it worked. Black has started. Works. After two days, I want to print something, code 48 is shown. There is no jam, but the head is on the right side and I do not want to move from the machine or manually for China. When I pushed with a syringe, I didn't know that the head should go out and I think I flooded everything under the plastic. I can't remove the plastics from above, something is holding it on the left side. I managed to do a cleaning reset, but the printer now turns on for a moment after connecting to the power supply and goes off. Do something Master.

Thanks! Fixed it just by jamming a needle into all the color printheads. Print color now. Was about to toss it in the trash. Didn't even have to buy cleaning solutions!

Glad to hear! Always good to have more different perspectives for better support. Most printers are usually salvageable if it has a clogged head.

I have a printer brother j100 (I can't reach the print head as you do to put the paper back), Where are the sponge located? where is the normal position of printer head before printing - left or right? in other words, I would like to know if the print head is located on the sponge by default. I followed the steps. The cleaning solution did not come back out in the syringe. But when I did try pulling the leftover ink out at first only droplets came out. I thought that was normal.

You can also use a baby nasal aspirater and it fits perfectly on the ink connectors you might struggle on getting it to fit in the black and magenta colors poke the tubes with a paper clip or a beedle like object than use 70% alcohol and some warm water and suck it into the aspirator and inject it into the ink slots and than squeeze 3-5 times until pressured and than on a separate tray pour the ink contaminated water and than do again with the other ink ports after that suck the ports with the nasal aspirator empty to pull out the keft over contaminated water with ink.

I think you have to inject the cleaner into the old cartridge's, use the syringe to inject the old cartridge's. Then run the printhead cleaning option with the injected cleaning solution. Find!, there's an little injection hole under the sticker on the cartridge. find it and inject the solution into it. This my give you a better cleaning result. And possibly a better printing result. I never tried, so don't blame me if you try and it doesn't work. Just a suggestion. We may have to buy empty cleaning ink cartridge to preform cleaning solution injection then cleaning. Using the old cartridge or clean empty one can insure the proper connection between the print heads and the cartridge's while cleaning with the solution while the cartridges are installed properly. That is something that comes with kit people have had success with isopropyl alochol mixed with warm water. You can look it up on youtube as well

What you will want to do is push the solution into the printer and the suck it back out . This will clear any clogs in the printer. Flushing it in and out will improve the prints. Since these printer models will not allow you to put a napkin in the back , I would warrant the number of times performed, as this may cause some of the prints to leak with the excess ink solution . You will want to wait for it to dry or print blank documents to dry it up .

You failed to do a test print, to show before the clean, then test print after the clean. So there is no way to tell if your video even worked.

Not very helpful. You went too fast, you blocked our view of where you were putting the syringe, you said to perform a nozzle check but didn't explain how to do that. You kept drawing back on the syringe and then injecting it forward, talking too fast, thinking we all know what you're talking about. I opened the cartridge compartment on my MFC J485 DW and I saw no hole in which to stick a syringe. My printer prints photos beautifully but it won't print text very well.

HELLLLP i think i put too much fluid inside and now my red color wont print :(. At first it seemed to start getting better but it didnt improve so i injected more fluid. And still it didnt improve so i continued the pattern of injecting more fluid. And eventually it stopped printing red! :'( this is so frustrating. I been at it for like 3 hours trying to get it to work. I actually thought id be spending 15 mins and i should be studying :'(. Im so screwed for class tomorrow.

I tried this once before on a Epson printer. Give it a couple hours and do a nozzle check and see if it comes back . It came back for me one time after giving it a few hours. It somehow deleted my colors and thought I messed up , but it worked hours later. See if this works . Thanks .

Also, i noticed other youtube tutorials showing that they put a paper towel beneath the printheads to soak up the liquids injected. I never did that and im worried its going to wreck the machine. And the inkpad sponge is really grimy with all the ink. I should probably clean that i guess? Thanks

SuperToBuy its still not fixed for me. This is the most frustrating thing in the world :(. I bought a cleaning kit for 14$. I injected the solution into the red nozzle. Waited almost a day and tried a test print 3 times. Still didnt print red. Then i opened the cover on top and realized the tube didnt fill with red wheras it did with other colors. So i thought the solution would be to fill the tube with ink. I manually injected a half syringe full of red ink into the nozzle AND STILL i couldnt get red ink to fill the tube. THEN what i thought was a good idea was the dumbest thing i did. I turned the printer upright and HOLY SHIT it just leaked a pool of red ink all over my fuckin computer table. The wood is not varnished too so its stained permanent. Ink also dripped down the side of the table but thankfully i wiped it before it touched the carpet. What an absolute nightmare. I didnt know injecting ink into the nozzle goes to an ink waste reservoir in the back! It just doesnt make sense to me. So thats where all the solution went as well from the injections. I am so clueless. I attempted to refill my own cartridge. The lc71M cartidge. Im not sure if i did it right because the ink leaks a bit from the cartridge. I dont know what to do. I may have to toss it. Everything works fine except the stupid red ink.

Worst printer ever. I have brother mfc495cw and Epson WF545. Epson is the best on cleaning and flushingout printer header. Brother printer is the terrible and completely wasted.
