Grouch is very special to me and I feel like this man has helped save my life multiple times and I was so grateful for the opportunity to tell him that last time I saw him at velvet jones in Santa Barbara with luckyiam scarub and some openers grouch was helping after the show I pulled him aside and he graciously lent me his ear and full attention like if we were the only two there. I doubt he is able to remember this but he’s genuinely been a true spiritual guide for me whenever I unfortunately see myself entering back into that dark place (which I am currently experiencing hence how I discovered this video) I instinctively begin listening to his music and hearing some of those speak to my soul in a way that is like therapy. Thank you both for being a light for those of us experiencing a struggle with darkness. And want to just take a moment to show love for a few of grouch’s masterpieces; breathe, emotions, lighthouse, my best teacher and matter of fact that whole tortoise and the crow album is beautiful.

Thank you sooooo much for doing this insightful interview with the Grouch. It truly meant so much to me to hear all of the stories, memories, advice, wisdom, lessons, and so much more that the two of you were so kind to share. I have been a long time fan since I first watched scribble jam 99 and 2000 on vhs waaay back in the day. Still to this day that one year in scribble jam (I think 2000) where Adeem won, is still my favorite event because it had all of my favs battling each other and having so much fun doing it and you could just feel the camaraderie between everyone. I am really happy this epic tour is coming to Phoenix, AZ because I will be there and I finally get to bring my wife to see you guys! I have probably seen you and the grouch over 30 times over these past 23 years, but it has been waaaay too long since the last time. I will be seeing you this coming Tuesday & can’t wait! It’s a common these for artists across genres too! I have comedian friends who think that getting therapy or getting sober will rob them of their edge. I’ve seen friend get well and their music suffered too.

This was a dope interview by Ali. 1) I remember buying the Fuck the Dumb tape from The Grouch outside the old Fatbeats in LA on Vermont. Still one of my all time favorites. 2) I also remember doing a one-off show up in Gilroy and checking the mic while Simple Man was playing. This kid in the front row was like "How dare you speak over The Grouch!" He was pissed!
