Many years ago Jeannie and her dad were traveling through Washington State and stopped to pick up a few things at the store that I was working at. I checked them out and kept the fact that I knew who they were to myself out of respect for their privacy. Then when I looked out the front door, there their vehicle was parked with The Kendalls emblazoned on the side. I should have said something. hehehehe But, they were both very polite and quietly friendly. I knew about the Heavens 'Just a Sin Away song at the time, but over the years my respect for them grew. And she still sounds great with the most expressive high voice that I have ever heard in country.

Great harmony. I love listening to rock, country and all different types of music. This was my favorite country duets. In the 1970s as a child I was living in SW Michigan (Dowagiac Mi) N of S.B/Notre Dame IN. We would listen to WMAQ country and WLS rock both out of Chicago. Listening to some of these classics brings back some fond memories. There was some good country duets. ( Conway Twitty & Loretta /Johnny Cash & Rosanne Cash/George George Jones & Tammy Wynette,)Athough The Kendall’s were my favorite. In the 80s they played the Cass County Mi fair our grandstands held 5,600 spectators it was packed. Sometime during the show they sang Heaven Is Just a Sin Away. The spectators stood to their feet immediately and just a loud roar was heard and it shook grandstands. After the show a table was set up under the grandstands. I believe they had CDs or cassettes for sale and they stayed to mingle with fans. You couldn’t get close enough to them so many people. I believe the same week Johnny Kay and Steppenwolf also put on a show at the County fair. There was a good showing for this show also but not sold out like the Kendall’s show. My wife and I were married on Friday May 22,1998 a small gathering of immediate family to witness at the County Courthouse. I believe it was the next day or a few days after there was a news brief that Royce Kendall had passed away. It was very sad. I remember hearing from people that had the opportunity to meet him. They said he was a very down to earth and a nice man. They also said his daughter Jeannie is very nice person.

This is one of THE few hit recordings in history; where it sounds JUST as good as the original. Truly awesome. They must have practiced long and hard to achieve such Godly perfection. And of course, Rhonda could embellish a "stump on a log" and make it seem like a "Queen Anne classic". For she is truly a treasure beyond measure. May Jesus brest Jeannie's father's soul.

What I came to like most of this music is the fact that there's absolutely nothing half-hearted about it. Besides their beautiful voices, their mastery of the three-voice harmony, and the awsome performance of the accompanying band, they seem to be expressing a gentle but vigorous way of living - and conceiving life - they are fully convinced is worth representing through their beautiful music. Strong, lively, assertive, and masterful.
