From New Zealand Good comment, but the past always looks better than it really was. In 1970 when this was released in NZ, our troops (not as many USA troops) were fighting alongside our American brothers in that tragic un-,winnable war in Vietnam. A war initiated and perpetuated by the military industrial complex (MIC) in chase of $$$$. Unfortunately 53 years later we have not progressed.

@@peterfreeman1585 I agree with 1/2 of what you're sayin Pete. There is definitely people on many sides, making money on wars. But Laos, and South VN were not communist, like red China, and didn't wanna be. With the military advancements on our sides, I believe the war could've turned out in our favor, if someone allowed it to happen. Not sure who. Such a corrupt world.

Tony Burrows and Sunny Leslie turn a very good song into a spine tingling amazing song with this powerful yet restrained performance. They are two of the most undervalued and underrated singers the UK has produced, whereas lesser talents gained more success and prominence. It's clear they are both singing live and deliver a confident, measured and sincere performance with superb back up singers too. Thank goodness this wasn't wiped by the BBC as many were around this time and we can all still enjoy two singers showing their craft through the decades to us all today, thanks to KZbin.

I was learning the trials and tribulations of puberty that year. It was a fun time to be alive and young. The kids today I doubt have a sense of togetherness and belonging. Frankly, I think they are weird but it's difficult to say being on the outside looking in. Today, if the song were released, it might trigger the young people. Perhaps the song is sexist, racist, homophobic, or Islamophobic in their eyes.

It's not under rated at all and gets loads of airplay to this day - if you listen to right radio shows. This original line-up was something rare, tho'.... top English session singers and writers. Their replacements were, however, sub-second rate cabaret puppets and should never be associated with this classic line-up and performance.

Underwood tries to sing over everyone she sings with. Gotta be heard. Look at me. Can't stand her. These singers were so amazing and just blow her away talent wise. No auto tune, no pitch correct back then. Either you could or you couldn't. No stripping down and prancing around to pre-recorded backing tracks but charging a fortune because you're supposed to be actually singing, or dresses so short the front 2 rows know where you have undies on to detract from the fact that you're just not all that great at singing.

It's time to bring back a number of the songs from the 60s and 70s. Many tell a story of love, peace, harmony and brotherhood. Not about big bootys, killing cops and how much destruction we can rain down on the world. So many of today's songs are about death, destruction and hatred. We children of the 60s and 70s need to bring back the ideals of peace and harmony so, put a little love in your heart. wow the vocals in this video track are even better than the studio version. Just superb. Created in 1969 by songwriter and record producer Tony Hiller, Brotherhood of Man was initially an umbrella title for a frequently-changing line-up of session singers. Early on, they scored a worldwide hit with the song "United We Stand". By 1973 the concept had run its course and Hiller formed a definite four-member line-up consisting of Martin Lee, Lee Sheriden, Nicky Stevens and Sandra Stevens. This version of the group went on to score many hits around the world in the mid to late 1970s including "Kiss Me Kiss Your Baby", "Angelo", "Oh Boy (The Mood I'm In)" and "Figaro". They achieved perhaps their biggest success in their native UK with three number one singles and four top twenty albums. The group under this line-up still continues today, performing shows throughout Europe. Altogether, they have released 16 studio albums, with worldwide record sales topping 15 million.

I was driving my friend's daughter to her school one morning when this song came on the car radio. From the backseat came her tiny voice singing the words to this classic. I was just a bit bemused but delighted.

Left to Right - Tony Burrow,Sunny Leslie, (the late) Big John Goodison,Sue Glover & Roger Greenaway. The original & best Brotherhood Of Man line up in my humble opinion. This line up made more soul records than the Eurovision pap the later line up were to hoist upon us.

You seem to know these singers pretty well. Am I correct in saying it was Sue Glover who was the female vocalist in Rainbow Valley by the Love Affair?
@123123rog
@123123rog 9 жыл бұрын
sandyronnie It seems generally accepted that it was Sue Glover but also possible that it was Sunny as you probably know, they were sisters and performed together around this time as a duo as well as backing others.
