My group was in the camp next to the bathhouse that assisted on Friday night’s shooting. Two of our people attempted to resuscitate the victim until paramedics arrived and others comforted his wife, secured the scene until deputies arrived. We are part of a veterans group on an annual camping retreat, Irreverent Warriors. Our mission is to bring veterans together using humor and camaraderie to improve mental health and prevent veteran suicide.

Ginny Springs is a beautiful campground. Was up there years ago with friends and we were playing guitar, bongos, singing and drinking a LOT of beer. I was playing my guitar and suddenly looked to my left and there was a crisp green pant leg next to me. I looked up and up and up and there was the biggest Sherriff's Deputy I've ever seen. I stopped abruptly then everybody else followed. The deputy laughed and asked very politely to cease and desist, we did exactly that. Whatever happened to celebrating Memorial Day like the old days? Never heard of such things happening late '50s '60s nope. Total breakdown of morals.
@u.synlig5 ай бұрын
Memorial Day is meant to be _"observed",_ not "celebrated". It is not a festive occasion. It is meant to honor persons who lost their life in active military service, and to recognize the ideals that they are presumed to represent. That is why dignity and honor, service and sacrifice, and family bonds (the service members have been lost to both their immediate families, and the 'family' of Americans) have traditionally been the overarching themes of Memorial Day.

What we need are better people in society - raised by both parents with strong role models. It is absolutely ridiculous what these 2 knuckleheads have done. But if there now needs to be police presence, there’s an additional cost. That cost will go to the taxpayers and admission prices, etc. All because 2 idiots are breathing air. Past criminal history is a great indicator, because criminals escalate behavior - starting small and building up. The court system needs to do more to punish criminals, not release them prematurely. The majority of shootings are from repeat offenders with criminal history. Ask the real question - why do those types of criminals have a place on society?

All visitors should be strongly encouraged and taught why they should not geo-locate their pictures on social media. Florida springs are becoming overrun with visitors because of excessive posts on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. The springs in our town looks like a community pool. There is no cap on the amount of day visitors, it is understaffed and the workers are overwhelmed. The rules aren’t even posted in the day use area. The government has used excessively poor judgment in allowing a private concessionaire to run our Springs. This is why we should judge people. You can judge them by there appearance. They 100% look like two people who would do this crime. And many other crimes

I used to dive Ginnie back in the '70's while studying at UF. I never felt any hostility or fear of being threatened by anyone. What's going on in the minds of today's young people?

FCN should report on the 4 people stabbed and one shot in 2 different altercation that happen during the MAY DAY festival that happened in Baldwin outside of Jacksonville and not to mention they Pissed on the gas station pumps so much that the card readers do not work that are next door to the Field. But I doubt they will because it is a all Black event

20 thousand people at a single camp ground? I never knew that camp grounds could accommodate so many at one time. No wonder there were problems.

This campground is a disaster. Waiting to happen. It’s not safe. It’s all about money and partying. It’s one of the most beautiful springs in this area. It is not safe.

@hughjass18355 ай бұрын
There are 6 springs, and they're not privately owned, the land around them is.

This breaks my heart for Amber and the kids because her and koty have been in love since they were kids. I pray that God serves proper Justice to these fools and I pray that God can offer his healing hand to the hearts of Amber Jaden and trevin through this very difficult time.

We were there Saturday but we were camping out front by the field. We were told we had to leave that morning Sunday. Its just crazy you cant go anywhere without someone having to act a fool!! I dnt think im ever going back. 3 yrs ago a guy told us to come watch fire works we didn't but he had lit a thing of dynamite 🧨 it pushed us back so far.

I was also there camping in the field on Saturday. I went to Ginnies last fourth of July and Veterans Day. The 4th was busy, but nothing like this. Veterans Day was practically empty, and NO ONE had to stay in the field. I plan to go back because it is an awesome place, but never for Memorial or July 4th.
