I love how Brothers of Metal have such a perfect gauge of how silly they are, while still being ridiculously catchy and sounding amazing. Who else would put a “foot pump” (3:19) in a metal music video?
@vanderoth5 жыл бұрын
And who else saw this wonderful nail painting at 1:32 ???
@DarthRaidius5 жыл бұрын
I believe that is a reference to the circumstances surrounding Njord's betrothal to Skadi, the winter goddess. As reparations for the death of her father at the hands of the Æsir, Skadi demanded to marry the most handsome among them, which was Baldr. But the Æsir did not want to see their fairest and purest wasted on a Jötunn woman, and so they countered that her request would be granted, but that Skadi must choose her match by looking only at their feet. So all the eligible men among the Æsir and Vanir lined up behind a curtain, with only their feet visible to Skadi, and she chose for her husband the one with the most attractive feet, which belonged not to Baldr but to Njord; as the God of the Sea spent his days in water, his feet were ever clean and gleaming, and had surpassed those of Baldr in beauty. And so it was that Njord wed Skadi... and untold aeons later, there would come a group of musicians from Sweden that sung praise to Njord, and they would make a reference to this betrothal by raising a foot into the air among the fists.
@Smetji5 жыл бұрын
@@DarthRaidius I have other idea, not so coherent tho. Just before the foot pump, you can see guitarist lifting his guitar and pick - two things he uses to play - in the air, as he hails Njord. And i think that after guitarist comes the drummer to show his "instruments" - his fist and his foot, which he needs to play the drum.

LYRICS: ---------------------------------------------------------- Warriors have gathered, Our ships are sailing west, Heading into war, On our final quest, For weeks we will travel, Through the wind and rain, Guided by the stars, As we drink away our pain, Leaving all behind, Nothing left to lose, Where our long boats meet the shores, We're nothing but bad news. Gales of mighty fury, For fortune and for glory. Through the water and waves. Born out of night and nails, Hail Njord, Mighty with mythical powers, Hail Njord, He is the wind in our sails, Hail Njord, Now your riches are ours, Hail Njord. Mothered by the night, His senses sharp and keen, Shaper of the greatest winds, A viking's ever seen, The moonlit sea, the raging storm, His will and his domain, Bend the sea, oh God of waves, And guide us through the wind and rain. Gales of mighty fury, For fortune and for glory. Through the wind and rain. Born out of night and nails, Hail Njord, Mighty with mythical powers, Hail Njord, He is the wind in our sails, Hail Njord, Now your riches are ours. He is the crushing force of the waves, The awesome power of winds, Guides us to wealth of coin, And brings death upon those untrue. Born out of night and nails, Hail Njord, Mighty with mythical powers, Hail Njord, He is the wind in our sails, Hail Njord, Now your riches are ours, Hail Njord. Born out of night and nails, Hail Njord, Mighty with mythical powers, Hail Njord, He is the wind in our sails, Hail Njord, Now your riches are ours, Hail Njord. ----------------------------------------------------------
